The coverage on the 8th gen corvette in the general news has been quite widespread...

everyone knows about the new c8 corvette...

sub 3 second runs to sixty for the stingray has John Q Public on fire...

accelerates to 60 in under 3 seconds will be the catch phrase for questions upon ownership and the handling is amazing with the rear mid engine

I hope that you have already managed to try to ride, because I could not convince myself that it is safe. I love various bikes, sports cars and speed, but it also drives me into anxiety and primitive fear. In order to get on a motorcycle just once in my life, I had to buy kratom vendors. I was so nervous that I think if I hadn't taken kratom, they wouldn't have been able to put me in there. So there is a solution to the problem of anxiety

I read about another C8 owner on the other forum that talked about his car being keyed. I have to agree with miliwattrob that I'm not leaving the car to shop in Home Depot or Walmart when I could just as easily drove my '99 Ford Escort wagon there...I wouldn't want to think about what I would do if I came upon some dips**t taking a key to my C8....

That car is just gorgeous! To me it has more appeal than a new C8.

Does anyone have any good responses for the "how much did it cost" question? I hate that one, I never ask anyone how they paid for something.

                      Good thread!

I too worried about the lack of anonymity when out in it but it hasn't been a problem.

A few 30 second conversations, nothing that keeps me from getting where I'm going on time.

I must admit that the first time I parked it at Home Depot I did walk a bit faster to get back out of the store. So definitely some anxiety initially!

But nothing that stopped me from using it everywhere and for everything. And that anxiety has faded which is good as it shows growth. Those who succumb to anxiety and don't grow are stuck in a bad place emotionally.

So get out and use it and make it a regular part of your life. It's worth it.

And ditto everything JB said. Good man.

I think we all have some anxiety parking any vehicle in any public place anymore. Just too many goobers out there running around now. That said we take ours wherever we want, bought them to drive.

I don't like that either. My answer is always, "They're expensive but a great value for a great car". Because to most people they are expensive, but fortunately very few seem to ask that question anymore, unless it's part of a conversation with a genuinely interested person at a car show for instance.

Unfortunately, when it comes to large valuable boats, it's a different story with the dock walkers at marinas or public fuel docks. My response usually satisfies folks without sounding arrogant..."It's expensive, but it's a major priority in our lives so it's worth it to us".

Funny story: over 40 years ago I was selling our boat and had a for sale sign in the salon window as I idled down a narrow channel past a young man that was fishing from the shore. He shouted up to me on the flybridge, "how much for your boat"? I said 54... to which he replied; "54 hundred, looks nice, that's quite a boat". I simply thanked him, rather than correcting him as it was actually 54 thousand.

You never know what someone else's perspective is and there is nothing good that comes from bragging or making anyone feel inadequate.

Wife just asked me about possibly going to a wedding in the future. Wanted to know about taking the car and valet parking it. I don't think I have ever felt comfortable handing my key's to anyone but I may have in the past. Im sure if the situation pops up with the C8 Im not going to do it.

No more valet for me. Let them park our C6 one time and they ran it up on parking stop. Lesson learned.
