I am just waiting for the cops to use the PDR data to convict someone of a traffic violation.

Unless a copy is transmitted using the OTA network for backup in "the cloud" aka somebody's server somewhere.

In the C7 owner's manual they made careful note that your data is not stored anywhere else but on the SD card. For the C8 it will be interesting to see what GM's privacy statement(s) will look like concerning the OTA system.

Anyway, most if not all new cars these days have a "black box" type set up where it continuously records data about how the vehicle is being used and it's performance. Normally a rolling erase-and-update process but when an accident is detected the last X minutes is saved for later forensic analysis. Don't want all that valuable real-life crash data to go to waste!

I read about a slackwit who uploaded PDR video of his felonious driving to YouTube. The result was a slam dunk conviction.

So yeah, don't post it online, and if a cop flashes his lights on then don't hesitate to pull the SD card and jam it up your tail pipe.

For the police, keep a second decoy SD card in the car that features you driving like a little ol' granny.
