  • ME’s HT Convertible: How Would It Work?

We have seen around 50 ME mules/IVERS which show a coupe, and what appears to be a hard top (HT) convertible. — yet not a single one which looks like the flat-rear-decked, soft top convertibles that Corvettes have had almost forever. If the informed speculation that the only ME convertible we are getting would be a HT, here is how it would look and function.

First, thank you very much to our forum member fvs who created this series of renderings, including the GIF (and also our forum main “landing banner”)!

I'm one of those long time Corvette owners (going all the way back to 1968) that is really looking forward to the ME. I just hope we don't have to wait too long for the 'vert' version. While I really like the look of the engine 'under glass' of the various ME European coupes, I'd sacrifice that for a flip top as drawn by FVS. GM certainly knows how to make one. We had one of the first SSr trucks and it was great fun for nearly 15 years. (Our flip top Ferrari is fun too.....)
2020 HTC Torch Red with lots of goodies. Built in September. Museum Delivered in October......

Other toys in the garage: Ferrari California, BMW i8 Roadster, Bentley Flying Spur, Chevy SSr

Spot on question toold2race, i.e., how long after the couple starts production, might we have to wait for the HT ‘vert to start to be made.

That is a good question. If the mid engine’s HT convertible comes out a month after the start of ME coupe production, would you wait for it? Would you wait for it if you had to wait three more months after the coupe? How about six months?

Or in other words HT convertible lovers, how much pain might you endure to get your ME as a hard top convertible?

Since I won't be buying a first year version anyway, waiting for a 'vert won't be an issue for me.

I could wait a full year, if needed, and potentially then get a higher HP (Z06 with the 5.5L TT engine?) Spyder version.

This assumes that the LT1-derivative will be the engine available for the 1st year of production, with the higher output versions following in later years (as has been done with so many prior Vette generations).

Like I mentioned on a different topic posted.... I am NOT waiting to get my ME, convertible or not.

With that said.... when the convertible does comes out..... I'll just trade in my first ME for my second one! Now that's "no pain to endure"!

              Why wait at all??

Besides.... I'm getting to old to have to wait for anything I desperately want.

I'm really looking forward to a HT vert. I'll give it a few years to work out all the bugs, but this is going to be a game changer.

I've always been a coupe guy, but I have to admit if they do a well executed HT vert, that might be worth taking a look at.

I would rather have this, I'm waiting 6 months anyway, I can wait. I thought they should do this, just have one model, the Ferrari Spyder 488 is awesome.

I would rather have a Spyder too. The birdies are whispering, there will however be a removable roof coupe as another option.
