  • Ordering has me confused

My dealer wants me to submit my order, however when I play around on the simulator I can’t get it to where I want anymore.

What I am trying to get is the front and side splitters that come with the Z51 package, but I don’t want the entire Z51 package. Can I not configure a 2LT with the addition of the front and side splitters. I’ve included a pic to illustrate what I am trying to add on.

Each time I try to add it without the Z51 package it tells me I need the high wing package for it.

The dealer can't submit an order without an allocation and NO ONE has any allocations yet. There are a number of issues right now with the 'preliminary' ordering information and the 'configurator'. When he gets his allocations, this should all have been cleaned up. Sit tight......

That’s not really what the question was, regardless of the allocation my dealer is asking us to submit the orders now then finalize them after pricing comes out. I can’t submit my order until I know how to order the exterior accents appropriately

Correct that one can not from the factory order the two pieces you want without automatically adding in the high wing. Solution: Order your car without both, choose if your wish to get the extended side rocker and the front splitter from GM over your dealer’s parts counter OR from an outstanding company, ACS Composites.

        Some notes please:

        1) GM has yet to confirm that they will be offering the Z-51 front splitter as a separately purchasable item;

        2) However, even if they don’t, go the aftermarket route, for IMO, the ACS Composite C7 front splitter was more attractive than the GM one.

Let us all put where we are now to a comparable time period right after the C7 was revealed, i.e., we are one massive-light year-better informed, this time having a visualizer, etc.

3). We will be getting more info from GM over the next month, and candidly the first orders to not begin to need to be close to finalized until at least early September.

        4) The number of folks on this forum whose orders will go in the first consensus is small; same with the next consensus; same with the following consensus. Hell, my order might not be picked up for a month or more — and all know my deposit has been down for 4 1/2 years, placed with the third largest dealer who has approximately 50 allocations each month, and am # 8 on his priority list.

We truly all need to chill. This is going to work out for all as long as we take deep breaths and understand we might not get our C8’s as soon as we would wish. [Ask others who have bought other sports cars of the C8’s caliber how long they waited, and their answers will often be multiple years.]

We've found errors in the visualizer. That's just a tool for customers to play with, and not the same tool the dealer will use to configure and submit your orders. The publicly available ordering guide doesn't list those components at all, as far as I can see. Once the dealer gets pricing, they should have a complete, accurate ordering tool. That's the only time you'll know for sure what exterior trim pieces are available.

Oh, and as far as submitting orders, the dealer CAN enter an order into the system now, but it goes in at status 1100, which doesn't really mean anything.

Thanks John, you’ve always got the answers. Let me just rephrase, I’m not in a particular rush to get mine and I know that the orders now sitting at 1100 don’t mean jack. I’m not under the illusion that placing anything now will lead to a sooner delivery, however my dealer is asking everyone on the list to submit their order so as to not lose my spot or get jumped, I wanted to get it in with them. Struggling to finalize it though but I like your idea of adding it aftermarket.

ACS Composite was a GM certified, active parts provider for a while — before they decided to use their artistry and make their own products. Theirs are more than first rate. I have some on my C7 as do several of my friends. Outstanding items, and again some were better looking than GM’s.

Also, let us say your complete your order, submit it to your dealer so he/she enters it to status 1100 as soon as tomorrow, but the consensus for your car is not until October 17th; your dealer could easily change your order during that entire time period (takes less than a minute with their GM WorkBench Connect software), and if done so before your order is formally matched with a GM allocation at a consensus, it will not hold it up. You can even submit a change after 2000 status, but that is where “going back to the beginning of the line” could be the consequence, and no order at status 3000 or above can be changed.

Good info John. Understand that we can get our order in at the 1100 status and change it prior to actual order/acceptance code (sorry forgot the number).

I second the ACS recommendation, some of their stuff was/is better looking, to me anyway, than the GM spoilers/splitters/wings.

Keeping this thread to the original question.

Thanks Gators. The aero question is one I had too. So,the front and rocker black "plastic" aero is z51 standard and specific, correct? I know you can get the rocker piece painted( option STI). The car in your picture has the carbon flash mirrors and rear spoiler(DRG and ZYC). I wanted to get the carbon flash painted splitter and rockers to match the mirrors and rear spoiler like on my Z06. I believe this combination is not available? You need to order the high wing spoiler to get the carbon flash bits.
I know ACS makes nice stuff, but some of us just like to order and drive.

Exactly my question! Except that I am not looking to do a rear spoiler at all, I just want the front and rocker black plastic

The full, 36 page ordering guide is now available. Maybe it will provide some answers:

Select "Print Book," Select Corvette from the drop down, and choose "Print Book." It will give you a downloadable PDF.
