ME To Offer Pearlescent Metallic White?

At the Corvette Corral in Daytona a few years ago, someone asked if one of the next year’s Corvette colors would be pearlescent white? This question was asked over a year before the new paint shop was completed, to which Chuck Valentini, BGA’s Body/Paint Shop Manager, responded, that “while the current paint shop can not paint pearlescent white, that the new one under construction will have that capability.”

It was noted that Chuck also said that the new paint shop could paint twelve colors. I asked Chuck at April’s NCM BASH, and he corroborated that the new paint shop has the capability to paint twelve colors, though he quickly added, “we have that capability, but as to whether/when that might occur, that has not been decided.”

As we have a separate thread postulating that the next model year is the time that GM makes the change to 12 annual colors instead of ten as it has been for a few years, maybe the 2020 ME premiers Pearlescent Metallic White?

Next year we have not just the traditional two “annual Corvette color replacements,” but if the color palette were to go to 12, we would be seeing 4 new Corvette colors next year.

Might Pearlescent White be one of the two new colors, and if it were, would you order it? And secondly please, what are your thoughts that the two additional colors (#’s 11 & 12) might or should be exclusively permitted for the ME Corvettes?

Although I am hoping black rose metallic makes a comeback, pearl white would be very pretty, IMHO. Pearls tend to magnify body contours, and from what I’ve seen so far on concepts, pearls would be smokin’.

I too would like to see Black Rose return, but I'm not holding my breath. Metallic black would be ok. I'm thinking of a yellow or red if I order a ME..It will all depend on being able to get in and out of it as I am an old geezer. ( with chrome wheels )

I would not order a pearlescent white. I prefer the white we presently have yet my favorite would be torch red.

                  both with black interiors.

i presently have a black corvette and although i dig it. I dont think ill do black again i wash and wax my car in twelve minutes flat.

Wash and then use eafle one spray and wax weekly and it only takes 12 minutes.

once every six months or so I use a griots orbital polisher.

peralized colors are usually an extra cost option and i tend to never pay extra for a paint color.

just my thing but even if free i wouldnt order the car that way.

Not really sure about the color until i look at it person not in a picture. They always (to me) seems to be a big difference between the two.

P.S. And I want some chrome wheels .... lol

I agree. Identical Corvette colors will look different on a FE than a ME, due to each’s very different shapes/angles, and thus vastly different color light reflectivity and more.

I have shared with many friends, and good I post it here too, that if there ever was a year to go to the NCM April BASH, it is next year. GM will have at least two show cars there, as well as the pre-production IVER ME cars that Tadge, Harlan, Kirk, Kai and many other top Corvette staff will be driving to the event. My wife and I will spend as much time as needed to visit every color that is on a ME there, and also visit the Plant (where we have found in past comparable times), some other colors behind a chain link fence, before we make our ME color decision. Here is a picture taken looking through the Plant chain link security fence in during that BASH. Picture this (sorry about the pun), about 30 of us left day 1of the 2013 BASH and in the driving rain, drove over to the the Plant, peered through the fence to take pictures like this one of the different colored C7’s before each making our own color decisions. After about ten minutes of us getting soaked (but we did not care), taking picture after picture jabbering with others we never knew before, a BGA Security Guard came over to gently tell us to “you need to move on.” We told him why we were there, pointed to our C6 Corvettes 25 feet away, and said, “please, wouldn’t you want to see your next Corvette in every color before you ordered it?” He smiled and said, “how about if I stay with you, but you do need to leave in the next five minutes.” Which we did.

Of course attending the many ME seminars there, and talking with the roughly 80 GM staff who GM brings to the event annually, will be another focus of our BASH for us next year.

Being able to go up and 1 to1 talk with all the GM staff always is a bonus of going to that event. Conseequently, at the April, 2013 BASH, my wife and I spent time separately talking with Harlan and Ryan Vaughan (C7 Chief Interior Designer), asking each what they thought of the color compatibility of each of our top two color choices, with each interior we were considering, with the specifics wheel we had chosen, etc., etc.

And BTW, what other brand gives you such access to both the entire top design and engineering staff of a vehicle you are about to order.

Oh gosh no. How about a pearlescent green or a violet ice. Something much more exciting and exotic.
