  • C8 at Pebble Beach ???

The latest videos of the C8 at the Concours of America in Michigan show a custom made pavilion to display the Corvette. These are very expensive structures that are designed to bolt together fast and take down faster. Their engineered for wind load, entirely waterproof, bathrooms, electricity for lighting and technology displays. Last year at the Pebble Beach Concour D'Elegance I talked to a company from England that designs, engineers, and makes these. No doubt, very expensive since their designed to be a traveling Salon style structure where people can get out of the sun or weather and sign up for concierge salon style help from specialists in ordering your car. This indicates to me that the C8 most likely will be at Monterey Car Week and be possibly featured at the Quail Event or the Pebble Beach Concour D'Elegance. Both Quail and Pebble Beach have these Pavilion style structures all over their locations. Some get huge and can cost millions. I'm betting that Pebble Beach will get the nod, though The Quail Event is geared for New Mid Engined Car manufacturers( Bugatti, Pagani, Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini, etc.) Either or both would be incredible exposure for Corvette.

I would not be overly confident that GMs tour is based on these display structures and where they have been in the past. Pebble Beach has a different audience and different cars. My bet would be that C8 will not be at Pebble Beach. IMO.

IF they do to Pebble, that display is pretty darn nice. I've been to Pebble and this display would be well received there ... IF they go of course. Here is a vid that shows it a bit better:

GM would have to be asleep at the wheel to miss the week of automobile activities on the Monterrey Peninsula and at Pebble Beach! It is the single most populated week of mid engine vehicles on the planet! They will reach thousands and thousands of repeat buyers of mid engine vehicles. If GM's plan is to sell as many as they can, this is the place to be.

If you can look at those set ups and see the Corvette among them, you are as visionary as the rest of us! I remember a couple of those from last year. That Northstar was a nice car and the pavilion was just as nice. It doesn't have to be downright opulent. Leave that to the car. The set up from Concours of America would fit in nicely.

So, we now know that the C8 will be at Laguna Seca for all four days during the Monterey Historics. I will continue to monitor The Quail Event and Pebble Beach for the Pavilion facility being set up most likely at Pebble. They could also show at the Hanger Party quite easily. I'll keep this thread up to date for any new locations during that week.

Im on vacation, all this week, from work, and Im hoping to be able to see a C8 without having to drive all the way to LA, where there are at least 3 dealers with the C8 tour, going on, this week.
