    1. Does the C8 have a motorized rear hatch closure feature?

    2. Rear view mirror camera-before the car is started, do you see just a normal mirror view? Has anyone actually seen the camera in operation and does it eliminate blind spots?

    3. Does 3LT interior trim include wrapping upper cabin surfaces in suede or leather?

    4. Does the stripe at the 12 o’clock position on the steering wheel come with 2LT and 3LT trim?

    5. With 3LT trim in jet black with red stitching, the configurator shows as deep dark black, yet some photos of the actual car illustrate a more charcoal gray color ( could be camera’s exposure ). Which is the true color of jet black leather?

    6. Some reports say the base colors will be produced first, followed by the newer colors such as Rapid Blue. Is Black considered a base color? I assume Zeus Bronze is a new color and will delayed

    1. Yes.
    2. Would like to know the answer to this too, but chances to sit in the touring cars seem to be rare, never mind while the engine is actually started up.
    3. Yes, see snippet from Ordering Guide below.
    4. Yes.
    5. Can't say.
    6. Don't know 100% but I expect black will be available right from the start.

Don’t understand why they would delay new colors especially if there are enough orders for them. Sure hope not, I want Zues Bronze. You would think that there would be an effort to get them on the road.

        2. Cadillac has been using this system for a while now. Some Googling might find the answer. There are some videos of the Caddy system in use on YouTube.

I DO know that in Cadillac you can turn off the camera function and use it as a regular mirror, so I would guess that's what you get with the car off.

The hardest material for a car maker to get uninform and consistent paint colors are sheet molded compounds. It takes a long time until GM, after painting tens and ten (maybe hundreds) of panels in a testing process, also doing so not back to back but also in the real world of production line assembly with every color being intermixed periodically, to insure paint panels done at different times are uniform and identical to those done weeks earlier and ten of batches earlier. GM learned this the hard way in earlier generations, quickly giving up on some brand new colors because they could not get such consistency, e.g., Fairway Green in 1997 and Aztec Gold in 1998.

All new colors are therefore rolled out last. Sorry, but that is the reason for this.

I would thin with the basic technology that some Body/Paint shops have today to match colors that the there is technology today that would able GM to more easily get these new colors more precise more rapidly. But, that is good to know. When I order my car I want to have NO or nothing that would delay my build so colors may be a consideration. Torch Trd is a safe bet . The trim questions will all be answered I am sure on the 15th when pricing is released. But any question not answered could best be answered by the GM Conciege with scheduled appointment. per John's post today in other area

Hopefully with the new very expensive much larger and slower paint process gm paint will meet expectations.

I have confidence as the bowling green assembly plant paint process is the best paint shop within GM.

i believe cadillac division paid for the paint shop improve, ent in preparation of tjeir shared assembly of the cadillac version of the c8 platfor,

what cadillac does or does not do with the c8 platform is still up in the air as we know.

Question to anyone that has seen the C8: Are there protective film pieces on the side of the car between the door and rear fender (like we have had on our 2015 Z51 and now on 2017 GS) to protect from rock chips? Looks like these areas are very vulnerable since side skirts are only 3/4 length. Surely hope that any protective film pieces put on the C8 by GM is much better material (which does not yellow) than the C7 material.
PS: I'm aware of products that can be added to car (i.e. EXPEL, 3M, Suntech etc.). My question is whether the C8 comes with protective film from the factory at the door/rear fender area as in C7.

I did not see them on the cars (but show cars). Every single C8 we have yet seen, including those at the reveal and at the traveling displays, is a pre-production unit.

Nor did I see rear rear quarter protective film just going through some videos. Maybe however I missed them? I will be having that entire rear quarter panel wrapped with XPEL (as I did on my C7)

The rear view mirror can be used with the camera OR as a standard mirror.
