  • When and where will the convertible reveal be?

If the convertible is the be produced concurrently with coupe or at least soon after they will need to do a reveal early in the fall at the latest. I looked at the calendar of auto shows and my top choice is Frankfurt which runs from the 12th-22nd September. Big show and helps with Euro exposure.

My only US candidate is Las Vegas which runs at the same time.

    Or some stand-alone event again?

    What do others think?

I think your timing is about right for Frankfurt, but do not have any clues as to whether that is the place, or???

If produced together, must be ordered together, together in time. The orders start date? . Convertible reveal accomplished in advance of the orders-start. Far enough in advance for buyers to evaluate and choose between coup and "spider".

Spider reveal at least 20-30-45(?) days before order start-date. GUESS. At a splash place.

Will GM actually do a Formal reveal of the Convertible?

I would have thought so but interested to see what our experts say. There's 25% of us very interested and it gives the team another little shot of publicity. I'm still new to Corvette so don't know how the C6 and C7 convertibles were handled. Plus this is a hardtop so a little different.

Supposedly they are going to release pricing in august, I'd think the pricing would have to include the spyder so people can choose. I've heard 2-3 corvette sales guys say they are expecting to start taking orders in august.

I watched a video from a vette salesman who said he has like 20 C7s being built the last week of september. so if they close Oct and Nov then they start building in Dec. to release in Jan.

Instead of a car show, maybe GM could display it more informally at a concours type event, e.g. the Pebble Beach Concours on August 18th. That would also tie in pretty closely with the expected release date for pricing.

The C7 convertible was unveiled at the Geneva auto show, in March of 2013, about 3 months after the coupe was announced, and well before before the C7 model actually went into production. If the C8 has the same 3 month lag, we could expect to see it in October. Similarly, production of the C7 'vert began about 3 months after the coupe. So if the coupe starts production early in the 4th quarter, as Reuss suggested, the convertible could start coming down the line in January 2020.

                All speculation, of course.

I was told by my local dealer (one of the big guys) here in North Texas that they would have pricing August 15 and it would include the 'vert'. He said coupe orders would follow, quote "not long after that'.

Do you think that the 'vert' reveal would be at the Museum??? The C7 'vert' was revealed in Europe in either Germany or Switzerland. My memory isn't what it used to be. I do recall that car being at the Museum shortly thereafter.

Thanks Meyerweb, I was not paying attention in 2013 to the C7. I got away from Corvettes for a few years did not appreciate them till I drove a C7. Had a C6 for a few months and drove it little. I hear you, most of the chatter is speculation . I am a convertible guy but the Targa suits me. Nice Convert you have. And with a manual, that will be a desired car.

I wasn't paying that much attention in 2013 either. But Google is a wealth of information!
