Meet Tom Peters…Exterior Design Director for the C5, C6, C7 and C8! Your host, Steve Garrett, introduces you to the man who designed the C5, C6, C7 and C8 Corvettes, Tom Peters! https://anchor.fm/steve-garrett/epis...orvette-etdtic
Tom talks about his early years when he first discovered Corvette, his path to a California design school, how he got his GM scholarship as a sophomore in college (when they were only given to junior and seniors) and all through his 35 years at GM. Tom gives you the inside scoop on how they introduced the C5 Corvette at a reserve Air Force base and the competition thereof.  He also recalls the story of how Global Design Vice President, Ed Welborn, gave his team the OK to finally call the C7 Corvette a "Stingray".  Then Tom recalls his induction into the Corvette Hall of Fame.

So you and some of your friends are standing around one year from now in a cruise in, in front of a bunch of Corvettes with many other great cars in other parts of parking lot, and someone new to you comes over you and says, “who owns the exotic,” you might say...

      That’s my __________.

Depends on what Chevy calls it and whether they keep a front engine model.
Right now when we go somewhere I just say let’s take the C5 or C7.
To the general public just Corvette, to a group of Corvette people kind of depends on which car and line of conversation.
There is a madness to my method!

Twice in our C7, with its first mod being the removal of the “Corvette” letters on the rear fascia, folks came over and asked, “it that a Ferrari?” Each time I said, “no, it’s America’s sports car, a Corvette.”

Bet we all say that many times with our ME’s. If that question’s frequency gets annoying, and depending how those letters look, and whether they says “ZORA,” I might well leave them on even if they are PIA to keep clean.

We are already calling it the Mid Engine Corvette. If GM comes up with a better name I guess we might use it.

Seems we have been calling it mostly the ME Vette. Short and distinctive.
