  • C8 internal Aux power port location?

I saw there is an Aux power port listed in the order guide in the center console. Did anyone who was at the launch see where it was exactly? Was just wondering what options for those of us who still plug our radar detectors into an aux power or would we have to hard wire it to another power source now..

Don’t know but there is a picture with a phone in a cradle that I think is between the seats behind the arm rest. Must be a USB there?

I did not see a USB when I looked at the phone cradle at the base of the waterfall. However, what a great place to store it and to have it cordless charged while sitting in that holder.

The C8 website says there are two USB ports and an Aux input in the console storage area. Nothing about a 12 volt socket. I think the place in the back with the cell phone is probably the wireless charging location (in the 2LT and 3LT).

Edit: the ordering guide says there is a 12 volt outlet in the console, too.

Thanks all for the info - I guess hardwiring the detector may be the only option. Since I'm not planning on a C8 for 3-4 years, someone will figure out how to do it before.

If anyone can check the console area for a 12V aux power, would appreciate it. That seems like an touch place to put it though to get access to the cord.

daleong I'm hoping someone will figure how to hard wire to rear view mirror. With my C7 it was pretty fast for someone to come up on how to hook up to the mirror

GM had that in the C6, but not for the C7. For the C8 is a good question we will want to learn.

What didn't GM have in the C7?

I think I can see a 12v (cigarette lighter) spot in the frunk here @ 11:47

I assumed that is for the battery protection package

I agree, for sure that looks like the 12v jack in the frunk and that's for the battery charger. The battery is up front somewhere now which makes sense.

Just bringing this thread to the top again, in case someone who saw a C8 recently remembers what was in the center console compartment and if a 12v aux power was in there.. or anywhere else...

I do not see a 12v socket outside the console, as exists on the c7. This is a loss to me, as I use that socket on my c7 to power my Valentine One, using the Valentine One remote display, incorporated into the power plug, and which leaves the detector on the windshield dark.

Good point. I do the same thing, The remote display can be powered via an RJ11 cable, though, so you could still mount the display somewhere low and keep the detector dark.
