Dealer pre delivery prep?

I am taking delivery of my 70th Z07/Z07. I am getting the car ceramic coated (exterior & interior) immediately. Does everyone let the dealer do all the standard pre delivery prep like washing and detailing? I did confirm the dealer hand washes the car. What does everyone else do? Let the dealer do there thing or leave all the plastic on seats and exterior unwashed and let my personal detailer handle it all?

Each dealer will or will not do their washing themselves with differential degrees of care and all the way to the other extreme of my dealer allowing me to be the only one to touch/wash it the very first time. That was a a darn good thing for their young lot person was getting super excited about his being able to wash his first C7, yes with his having his dirty bucket with washing brush fresh from his just washing a farm pic up just before mind.

One thing to note in dealer’s defense and perhaps helpful to you. The dealer is required to inspect the exterior and the car and to note any paint or related fit and finish issues, and if they do not and later there is a problem, could without their inspecting it (difficult to do if it arrives very dirty), might they then say you caused it during your wash and deny responsibility? Far fetched but it has happened. Also as part of the final PDI paperwork, PDI personnel need to note all anomalies, and why it might be a good idea for them to do the hand wash?

So many competing potential factors. most dealerships are very ammoniating if you and and they talk up front before it arrives, and you are there when it actually does so (reminding them of your agreements). Presents for their team is a smart idea always.

Told my dealer I wanted everything other than the Tyvek, install what they needed, DO NOT TOUCH the paint. Went straight from there to my detail shop for PPF and ceramic.

I told my dealer no wash or wax, he says they do hand wash I said no thank you my ppf guy will take care. My car will be going to the PPF shop the next day or 2 after pickup which is happening soon. Looks like my car is 4 hours from my dealer and going to bed now so maybe delivery tomorrow.

Most of the shops in our area ask the owner to tell dealer not to detail the C8. They prefer the C8 as it came from the factory, at most remove plastic seat protectors. That's it. There is one caveat, normally the C8 goes straight to detail from PDI. Detail picks up on defects that were missed when the C8 was dropped by the transport. Problem is that the C8 leaves our property, brought to vendor, who knows what happens in his shop. Vehicule is damaged and then they come back and say that it was damaged when it came from the factory. Now you are in a ****ing match over something that cannot be proven. This has happed on more than one occasion. You are shooting craps when the car leaves your property with factory tape around different points.

I let NCM do the PDI including hand washing… that is only because I know their hand washing procedure. Hand washing done badly will cause risks to the paint and glass.
