Hi Folks, just a heads-up for those who purchased the Battery Protection Package with your Corvette or plan to do so with a new C8 order;
The unit is made by CTEK as most of us know. Well the one I got with my 2022 C8 worked flawlessly over the winter and up until a week ago when it died. I know it died because I have another CTEK maintainer that I use on my C2 and it works perfectly on the C8.
I contacted CTEK about warranty, as their units are warrantied for 5 years. I heard back from them that they re-brand their products for several automotive brands including our Corvette brand and that I need to take it to the Chevrolet dealer where the car was purchased for warranty. Okay, all well and good, I take it to my local dealer whom said they had never had this happen yet and to wait to hear from them. Well, yesterday the dealer phoned me and said that GM requires that I bring the car in so they can hook the car up through the OBD port with the faulty charger plugged in. They were apologetic about it and said they didn't understand why, but this is GM's policy. What a PITA. So the moral of the story for me is this; I wouldn't have ordered this with the car and instead I would have just bought the CTEK MSX 5.0 on Amazon for $89.95
Just thought I would pass this on..
Cheers,
