  • Rearview Mirror Camera Standard for 2024. Harlan Charles told me @Bash

I've been asking Harlan to make the Rearview Mirror Camera to be standard equipment on all mid-engine Corvettes since Carlisle 2019, because I think it's a safety issue with the mid-engine visibility.
When I asked him again after the main presentation at 2023 Museum Bash, he confirmed that the Rearview Mirror Camera will be standard for all 2024 Corvettes.

I'm only posting this now because I have yet to see it announced anywhere, and people have been asking about it.
Thank you again to the Corvette Team for making this happen.

Thank you for asking Harlan and posting that good info here. Of course as we all know on every HTC when the top is down, there is no ability to use it (become hidden underneath the folding mechanism).

Fwiw I have a 2020 c8 targa z51 1LT and don’t miss the rear view camera mirror at all.

there are many luxuries in life that people begin to feel they can’t live without.

after 25k miles while the rear view camera mirror remains one of those that people supposedly need while a few of us enjoy our corvettes just fine without the camera mirror …

I drive in and out Manhattan a drive many would think is difficult especially without that camera mirror. I never had a problem at all.

well with each year I’d imagine many luxuries become expected safety devices.

same thing with the lane change warning system. Ugh I hate that thing in my wife’s luxury vehicle…the lights are fine but her car actually follows and corrects for the lines in the road.

it’s almost taken out a few of those idiot bicycle riders running four wide and when I go slightly wide to give them room as I pass them in her car..the car sees the line in the middle of the road and pulls the car back in the lane where those 4 wide bicycle riders are…it’s pretty annoying to almost take those bike riders out because of the cars safety system,

add all these so called gotta haves and you add thousands of dollars to the price of our cars.

can’t have it both ways…can’t add all these safety and or luxury systems to a vehicle without adding complexity, weight and costs..
