Gap in Carpets….Is this normal?

I am a new owner of a 2023 red mist metallic HTC with natural dipped interior. I recently noticed a large gap or hole above the carpet on the drivers side (over an inch high) near the accelerator pedal and to a lesser degree on the the passenger side (less than 1/2 inch). It is as if the carpet was poorly fitted on the assembly line. I have seen one other C8 and it had similar gaps above the carpet…only not quite as noticeable because of black interior. Would appreciate it if other C8 owners can indicate if they have similar gaps indicating it is normal or is my carpet indeed poorly fitted. Thanks!

That irregular bulge in the carpet is not normal but gaps at the top on the driver’s side carpet are (can’t be seen unless one is down below normal sitting height). I would however when you next head to your dealer get them to re-adjust/re-move the carpet bulge on the passenger side.

As to the gap above the gas pedal absolutely normal for that is for the throttle positioning sensor wire to disappear behind the carpet.

I'll try and post a pic of my passenger side later. I have weird bulges and creases in the carpet under the far right interior panel of my 23 HTC. It looks horrible.

same in my '23 coupe. I have had to "re-stuff" the passenger carpet into the trim that comes down several times now. It is becoming a nuisance but I plan to have it addressed by the dealer when it goes in for an oil change later this summer.

I found a piece of padding that appears to have been haphazardly thrown in there during assembly. I can't quite figure out how it's supposed to be in there, but I was able to reposition it to make my carpet look better than before. It will probably be necessary for me to add my own padding too make it look decent.

It's normal on our Natural Dipped interior gap on driver's side, as well as the bulge on the passenger side. Since most have black carpet, it's probably not noticed by the majority.

Ours looks exactly like OP's. I don't see the gap because I'm never viewing from that angle, and I've learned to ignore the bulge. It can't be straightened because of a hard backing, and it could be there is some sort of wire bundle back there.

I think the bulge is to give clearance for the evaporator condensate tube but the bulge in my 2020 Natural Dipped carpet doesn't look as obvious as the OP's.

Yeah, I don't recall ours looking quite that prominent either, but that may be an artifact of camera angle, lighting, and shadows.
