  • C8 Amateur Estimated Theoretical Top Speed Could Be 190+ mph

So, after watching just about every C8 video and reading as much as I can before going cross-eyed, I noticed a few videos showed the car driving at speed with enough clarity to see the RPM and the speed. Using this I figured I could calculate the "theoretical" top speed of the car assuming 6th gear has a 1:1 ratio since Tadge said during the unveiling that the 7th and 8th gears were overdrive gears. Doing a little calculation estimating an RPM of 5100 and speed of 153 base on the below screen-grab from the reveal, the final drive ratio came close enough to 2.73:1 that I used this for my calculation (this is also the same final drive ratio used on the 8 speed automatic). With peak horsepower arriving at 6450 rpm the car would hopefully be able to rev to that limit in 6th gear without being overcome by drag, which would give an estimated top speed of 191 mph! If the LT2 has the same 6600 rpm rev limit as the LT1, that would bring the car up to 195 mph if it can overcome the drag resistance. Obviously there are a good number of assumptions and estimates, so this could all be completely wrong, but it's fun to think about

I have been reading all day as well. I thought I heard or read this LT2 car would hit 200 mph. After living in a world of renderings and opinions and and and who knows .
