Austin does have some wear and tear issues because of how he uses his car on the track. He has been very honest about his issues with the brakes and the carbon fiber wheels.
Anyone who has purchased the carbon fiber wheels for their Z06/07 had better do your homework on the tire shop or dealership you take your wheels to for service. If they do not have the special equipment to prevent the scratching and destruction of the wheels during dismount and mounting you are in for the same issue that happen to Austin this year at his dealership in CA. They royally destroyed his wheels during tire changes and is why the Chevy team replaced them for him at Chevy's expense.

The issue of the $5,000 or 500,000 GM reward points he makes in his latest video is warning to all of us not to assume just because you have a GM Chevy Awards account that they are applying that to your Z06 purchase. In Austin's case you can probably bet that the Chevy marketing people are already trying to figure out what idiot at the GM awards division came up with this how to say no scheme they told Austin and correct it ASAP for everyone. If you watch Austin's YouTube video and read the comments most folks have made about the denial of his reward points, this could be their Bud Lite moment if they don't get ahead of this and fix the loophole that the Rewards division did.

Personally, I met Austin at the Z06 reveal and found him to be a great guy. He is a great ambassador for the Corvette and is why his experiences are so important. I do think that the Chevy folks will figure this out and make it right for all of us but not without some stress for now for Austin. Keep up the great stuff Austin.

For those that want to ensure they are covered recommend calling 800-222-1020 and ask for Rewards System. They are OPEN until 20:00 EST. I just spoke with "Joe" and my buddy Bob talked to "Jamie" sp?. Thanks for the tip Bob!

I did confirm my ZO6 is registered in "My Chevrolet Rewards". By the way I did nothing to make that happen except that I established an account a few months prior to taking delivery (August allocation to May delivery... 8+ months). Also, I did ask Joe to put a NOTE in my record that we talked today.

My guess is Austin will be "fixed" shortly...

This post is going to help many Z06 owners.& Make leave a bad taste to others that are in the same boat! HOPE GM changes their policy like they did with the 12 month too 6 months.

Captain Mike, Glad you called & confirmed that your Z06 purchase is on record with “My Chevrolet Rewards.” I called and confirmed my purchase with them as soon as I watched Austin’s vLog. I also asked Jamie to make a note that I had called to confirm the date I took delivery (April 15th). Like a lot of us I’ve followed Austin for quite a while. I’m guessing GM will fix this for him as soon as someone with authority gets wind of how he was treated!

I just asked the GM Rewards representative if there is any application requirement to get the 500,000 points for a Z06 purchase.

Here is what they said:



I also called Hunter last week on the Revolution issue with carbon fiber wheels. He was very familiar with these wheels. He said the lug adapter comes with every Revolution machine purchase. The lug adapter mounts the wheel to the machine using the 5 stud holes just like mounting to the car. There should not be any issue changing tires on a carbon fiber wheel with an experienced tech and a Hunter Revolution machine. It's probably not the standard $20 though.

If I intend to track run or race with CF wheels, I would accept that they will get beat-up. And Just use it that way. Like yard shoes.

But there should a GM available service option for such an expensive GM OME item. Most will get them as Easter Sunday shoes and treat them like jewelry. IMHO. They deserve the best support. Personally I would not select it. Too big to fit in my dream.

He should get the 5K$ award, all the exposure that he provides. How cheap can GM get. A low level employee denied his claim, at the administrative deny-level. No sweat.

The wheel thing is totally on the dealer…but GM got the black eye. And the wheels are NOT $20k cost, so chalk that up to “click bait.

Why should he have to figure out anything? GM said if you keep the car for 6 months you get 500,000 points. Why should the buyer have to do anything? GM knows who bought the car, when they bought it, and when the 6 months are up.

And as much as I respect John, the fact that anyone needs to be "working on it" indicates there's a problem that needs to be worked. If this happened to a buyer without a YouTube following, he probably got nothing.

If you buy a Z06 and keep it for 6 months the points should be automatic. No hoops to jump through, no deadlines to meet.
