  • C8 HT: Along Comes a Spyder

At the conclusion of tonight's 2020 Corvette Stingray Reveal, a video was shown featuring the C8.R and a sneak peak at the 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible! Chevrolet posted the entire reveal presentation on media.chevrolet.com from which I grabbed the following screen shots. Notice that the engine is not visible in the convertible configuration. What are your thoughts on the Stingray Spyder?

You just beat me to it. I'll delete my thread, also showing this peek.

Are these renderings? Look like it.

And the colour does not look like SGM.

Otherwise no surprises, given the great renders we've already seen.

Pity no words in the presentation about availability of either the coupe or spyder.

Hmm, I might actually like the coupe more. It's a pity they had to remove the engine view from the Spyder.

Need to see them both in the plastic, but based on this I love it. I'll happily trade the visible engine for (a) not having to remove the targa, (b) not giving up luggage space when storing the targa, and (c) not having to be a fanatic about keeping the engine compartment clean.

And I wonder how much that optional color coordinated, LED lit engine option is going to cost the coupe owners who want it?

Renderings have gotten so good we can't tell the difference! But the fine print below the image says "pre-production model" so I think it's the real thing, not a render.

Maybe renders of a pre-production model? That overhead shot with the interior doesn't look detailed or sharp enough to be a photo.

My wife wanted the convert, as our last 2 Vetts have been, but after the reveal last night we both like the coupe looks better. If the targa top would have been electronic that would have been super cool.

                  I'm in, ready to order!

I'm in the "I can wait a while for an ME" camp but I love this. Give me a Z06 Spyder. Imagine how this car will evolve over the next several years. Exciting times even for a traditionalist like me.

By the way, one thing I don't think I like, trivial though it is, is that stingray emblem on the rear deck.

                        I think that's just because it's a screen capture from a video.

I believe we will see that Chevrolet has pulled a Porsche on us which is a good thing. You can get what you want and can pay for. All the options will cost you but not as heavily priced as Porsche. I think it was smart move on their part. You can buy stripped C8 under 60k and fully enjoy a great mid engine car or build a 87k masterpiece to YOUR DESIRES. I’ll give them credit it’s a beautiful car, keeping it affordable for those that worried it would be priced sky high. It’s up to you to build and price to your budget and liking. Well done Chevorlet

Why somebody in the R+D department couldn't figure out how to make the Vert with a Glass Engine Cover? Really? Or may they still have it in the works? I hope so because the glass panel looks sweet, as well as the rest of the car. Had my heart set on the Vert, Time will tell I'm sure. Wonder how long we will have to wait to hear something about the Convertible and if we may be able to order a glass panel for the engine on it? Can you imagine how Sweet that would look?
