Will the 2020 Stingray mid engine C8 have a special edition? This been publicly wondered by quite a few, as the first year C7’s had one. Might that be a possibility, for there are some historical and other C7 factors that could if repeated, result in a first year ME special edition?
*Most importantly to support this possibility, is that there was first year, 2014 C7 called the “Premiere Edition.” Thanks to CorvetteBlogger, we have this 2013 article about it.

In addition to the 500 Premiere coupes, all but one of which only came with the 7-speed automatic, there were also 500 Premiere convertibles which all had the 6-speed automatic. They all came in Lime Rock Green.
*All 1,000 Premieres had special and unique wheels, e.g., the only wheel available for every one of the 2014 Stingray Premiere Editions, and IMO, they were outstanding looking.

So there was a first year special edition C7, but are there any other clues that might indicate that there could be a special edition C8? Perhaps not so coincidentally, there appears to be a unique wheel that appears to be available for the C8 special edition.
First a touch of C8 wheel background info based on the leaked Jalopnik specs. If they are correct, there remains only one wheel we have not seen yet on hundreds and hundreds of ME spy pictures; additionally that missing wheel’s description is unique and different from the five different C8 wheels we have seen in two ways (just like the C7’s Premiere Edition had wheels different from all other 2014’s).
The many-times-seen wheels in hundreds of ME spy pictures are either “5-Open Spoke” or “5-Trident Spoke.” Yet there is this one outlier listed in the Jalopnik leaked specs, a unique wheel named “PerformancePewter 5-Open Spoke” wheels. They are listed as LPO wheels just as were the wheels on the C7’s Premiere Edition. Clearly, we know what the word pewter refers to, but what about the unique word “performance?” Is this a typo, a mistake, or is this wheel different — perhaps a curved-spoke wheel as uniquely was the 2014 Premieres’ wheels?
*Not coincidentally the wheel on the 2014 Premiere Editions were also LPO accessory wheels, and were the only wheels available for that special edition.
If there were a special edition first year C8, and if it were to again have a unique wheel such as the C7’s special edition, might the pewter wheels lead us to further guessing as to whether the Special Edition could be of a color coordinated with that pewter colored wheel? And even more of a stretch, as the 2014 Premiere coupe came in Laguna Blue, a first year color, and the 2014 Premiere convertible also came in a first year color, Lime Rock Green, might a C8 also come in a first year color and what would match better than Zeus Bronze Metallic with that Pewter colored wheel?
Lastly, if there were a first year C8 Stingray special edition, might it too be called a “Premiere Edition?”
