What are some of the things not to like about the C8 compared to the C7?

  • #2
It's not easily available as the C7 and its variants. Does that count?

Rear vision. The coupe opaque rear hatch design creates unnecessary visual obstruction. Precludes situational awareness and causes uncertainty.

Interior storage space within the cabin, for with a C7 coupe, was far better could reach behind us for the little cooler, plenty of room for cameras, day packs — all accessible just reaching behind when traveling. Now in our c8 everything in the cabin has its mini-mini-space (like a C7 and earlier convertibles), and if we want more than the very few and very small items we have inside the cabin with us, we need to stop and get out go into the frunk or trunk to retrieve it. But to me, that is a small adjustment compared to the tens of things the C8 does better.

But we each have to choose our priorities.

Lack of interior storage space……but I would never go back.

My C7 GS did not have the greatest rear vis. I used the backup camera to park it in my garage (along with the side mirrors, but not the rearview).

Besides, you should be passing other cars, not worrying about what is behind you. 🤣

If you switched this around about the C7, the passenger leg room was a joke. The mid engine trumps most everything. Only thing I miss is fuel mileage.

                No more manual transmission.
The pointless rear glass of the coupe or the turbulence generating nacelles of the convertible.

But I will no longer drive or own anything else.

I wish my C8 had a little more Rear Storage capacity, Soft-Close Fronk and Center Exhaust like the ZO6.

... other than that, it's perfect enough from me.

We owned two C7 converts ('15 Z51 and '17 GS) and thought the GS was the best ever. Storage space was no problem, especially with the extra trunk space when top was up. However, the C8 HTC is far super in handling. Love the C8 except the heat generated in the rear trunk. It is my DD and when grocery shopping, I need to be careful which items I place in the trunk. Thank goodness the frunk holds one my coolers for the frozen items. Just like Tadge said "Pizza in trunk, ice cream in frunk".

IMO you are trying to compare apples to oranges when comparing to a front engined car.
There is very little, if anything that I dislike about the car. It fulfills my dreams of having a midengined supercar! If you want other things, buy different car. There are tradeoffs that must be made for a car like this one!

The excellent cabin isolation designed into the c8 while very quiet and luxurious is less than favorable for my taste compared to the previous generations front engine rear drive corvettes raucous and roar of the engine in the closed cabin. . Both with npp exhaust.

I also would mention in previous gen corvettes the targa top layer horizontally in the trunk allowing for packages under the roof panel stored in the trunk.

with the c8 the stored roof is in a much more vertical position so once the roof is stored the rear trunk no longer can store anything else. That’s a real nitpicking as we do still have the small frunk so it’s not a big deal but since you asked I thought I’d contribute to this thread.

Z06 frunk gets warm, so you have to eat your ice cream at the shop. It will be interesting to see if the extra radiator in the Eray adds heat to its frunk.

Comparing supercars/sports ia a comparison of compromises. Petite, light, tight, low, roomy, spacious, leg room, head room, storage?, systems. Giant brakes, tires, tranny, engine. Copious lighting, cooling, radiators, venting. Substantial chassis components. Wow. How dey do dat?
