With the way this rollout has gone for the 2023 Corvette Z06, we sure could use some good news from Chevrolet about the production status of the car. Well, here it is: The first customer-order 2023 Corvette Z06s have been completed!!

Coming in at 331 days after last year’s reveal in California, the first customer-owned cars have been finished. Chevy even made their self-imposed “Summer Availability” deadline with today being the final day of Summer.

With multiple sources chiming in, we’ve known since Wednesday that Chevrolet has reached this milestone with America’s newest supercar. Now, all we need is for the automaker to share the photo of that first Z06 Corvette at the end of the assembly line to make it official.

Our sources also tell us that more Z06s are scheduled to be built next week as well. Stay tuned for more details, and congratulations as the Z06’s Start of Regular Production (SORP) is here!!

So exciting that GM stated back on October 26th that they would have customer Z06’s build by the end of summer, and they did so.

Hundreds if not thousands of skeptics have doubted that, in fact right now elsewhere there are quite a few erroneous articles, threads, blogs, and posts saying production will not start until next year, some stating that the first customer Z06’s will be a 2024 model. With some further going off the rails pronouncing that the car is delayed due to serious engine and/or DCT issues, that consequently the Z06 has been changed to a 2024 model, and other wrongly-imagined scenarios.

On the contrary MidEngineCorvetteForum has been a consistent, positive voice saying just like Yogi Berra, “it ain’t over until its over” — with today being the last day of summer, and that we expect/expected the first customer Z06 to be completed no later than today, just as tomorrow (Friday) it will be officially in writing GM confirmed!!!

Folks should have listened to the explicit words of Corvette’s Marketing Manager Harlan Charles who told all at the April NCM Bash, in response to a Q&A question as to when the first customer Z06’s would be revealed, “the last day of summer.” Harlan, you told us all that day as clearly as you could have. We heard you at MECF! Believed you since!

Doubters go back into your negative worlds, for yesterday as promised, GM has delivered the first customer Z06’s — in spite of the manufacturing supply chain worldwide-meltdown. In fact three customer Z06’s have been completed. Congratulations GM!

We look forward to yesterday being just day one of a many, many, many years of C8 Z06 manufacture!!!

So that must mean Hendrick got his car? Probably not via museum delivery!

His VIN 001 C8 Ssgtingray was picked up by his own driver, in one of his own transporters. I'm sure the same is true for the Z06.

He apparently also bought the first Z06 HTC at the bargain basement price of $1,000,000.

They will until their ramp up is done and they see how suppliers can provide parts. Then if things are looking good, they would increase percentages.

The came through yesterday, e.g. with a day to spare. 2022 is a rare year in which the last day of summer was today, the 22nd. The first 3 Z06’s were completed yesterday.

Regular customer Z06 production has started. Regular customer production has started. That is so good. Or to put it GM’s way the start of regular production has started. SORP has started. Sounds great not matter how it is stated or re-stated. Congratulations to the entire Corvette team whether you are located in Michigan or Bowling Green. We thank you.

Not to split hairs (I did go to law school to split hairs on words) here but come on! No Z06 is available by the summer 2022 self imposed deadline. I hate to be Debbie downer but when a manufacturer announces on their website to the consumer "available summer 2022" and there are no Z06's in the market place to buy a reasonable person would conclude it is not available yet. Clearly there are reasons why they missed their deadline but let us be realistic in this difficult manufacturing environment. Just my 2 cents.
