  • POLL: Scoop shape

Since the side scoop’s shape is the most hotly debated ME item, Richrat suggested this poll. I concurred, so with fvs’s guidance, this poll was created. Thank you both.

It is different from every prior poll in that everyone gets to vote up to four times, but only in the following way, e.g., our honor system.

    A) Choose and vote for either Option #1 OR Option # 2.

    AND:

    B) Choose and vote for Option # 3 OR Option # 4.

    AND:

    C) Choose and vote for Option # 5 OR Option # 6.

    AND:

    D) Choose and vote for Option # 7 OR Option # 8

OR, feel free to ignore all the above and instead vote for Option # 9.

    THE SCOOP WILL:
    29
    1) Be a horizontal “U,” OR,
    34.48%
    10
    2) Be a horizontal “V.”
    41.38%
    12
    3) Start completely behind the door — with no door “triangular peak,” OR,
    24.14%
    7
    4) Start on the door, creating a door outward, triangular peak.
    48.28%
    14
    5) Extend downwards no more than 2/3’s down the rear fender, OR
    17.24%
    5
    6) Extend downwards all to the way to the bottom of the fender, touching the side aero skirt.
    55.17%
    16
    7) Be best visually characterized as an “innie,” OR
    27.59%
    8
    8) Be best characterized as an “outie.”
    37.93%
    11
    9) Conversely will not exist at all on the first year C8.

I never vote on a poll I create until ten others have already voted. I can not wait to vote on this poll, so I hope ten post here soonest.

Hard to vote on such a visual element without any images. But I'll give it my best guess.

Agree with the comment that it is hard to vote without an image, one person's definition/description could be completely different than others.

While I think there will be a small portion of the scoop on the door (specifically speaking about the top of the door), I don't think it will be that huge wing that we have seen on the camo cars. Something with just enough lip to give you something to grab onto and to hide the door button. That could change as well if they go with the electric/power doors as rumored. I think the scoop will be MUCH smaller than the mule cars (meaning not sticking out so far) making it more flush with the outside of the car and not as tall. I think it will be more of a C and/or U shape more like the C1's side.

Yes, dweaver, I think you’ve got it. And perhaps the door peak sticking out on the door at its maximum, no more than an old fashioned, chrome Corvette door handle.

Perhaps door peak with a 4” max door width, max 3” height, and a maximum 1 1/2” protrusion. All we need to get behind it is a couple of fingers and a backside of peak 1/8” thick pressure switch. OR, maybe not even a pressure switch, everything being an electronic proximity switch triggered by our fob.

Exactly what I am picturing. Think back to that early mule photo with the door open (the car covered in the black canvas). You definitely saw the type of shape you just described and NOT the huge wing. I'll see if I can find that picture somewhere to highlight the point.

Option 10: No matter what the final form, it will be as sexy as all get out.

An insider with whom I was communicating this past weekend, said he wished he could share anything right now but can not (he is a person of utmost integrity), but that he too was excited — and of course he has seen the naked car for years. He said he is so pleased that they can soon share it with us.

Wonder if insiders would now wish that the reveal were this Thursday as we all do?

                        Great news John!

I think there is foam and plastic in places like the scoop and hood GM hid the actual design really well. I'm hoping he is really excited because there is a lot more to share.

I just heard some confirmation from an unexpected source. It is not new news to any of us that the big spoiler that we think is on the Z-51 version, is slathered with camo. Hope is it a couple of inches worth. And of course Richrat, there is more camo on the rear fascia too.

Wonder if when we see the car, we feel that it is too thin from the inches of distortion we have become used to, and instinctively we feel it needs to gain some weight (figuratively speaking).

No vote, they either need to give us a teaser or we’ll see when it’s revealed.
