  • C8 Coupe & Convertible Reveal - Together or Separately?

The 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe was revealed in Detroit on January 13, 2013, followed by the 2014 Stingray Convertible in Geneva on March 5, 2013. Do you think we'll see a similar reveal of the C8 Coupe and C8 Convertible on separate dates in separate locations, or will GM reveal both this time due to the relatively short time between the reveal and the end of C7 production and major upcoming Corvette marketing events such as Corvettes at Carlisle and the 25th Anniversary Event at the National Corvette Museum, both in August?

What other C8 reveal similarities and difference do you think we'll see compared to the C7 reveal? Check out the C7 Coupe and Convertible Reveal Videos here:

I voted yes, throwing caution to the winds. Reason is, that this is the very biggest reveal in the history of Corvette, and so I think GM goes big! Also, the world’s attention will be on 7.18.19. And if the rumors of a delay in the C8’s intro are correct, might GM not want to reveal both at the same time, which while different from recent past history, might they wish to “play catch up” and reveal both at once. At least I SO hope so.

One other reason is that major reveals cost a lot of money. As have seen GM shipping two or three Corvette ME prototypes to major races and similar this past year, my guess is that they would similarly have them at the reveal (all the way from Michigan). Having a separate reveal would be a major additional production, and would cost a bunch too.

Of course, these are just my theories and hopes.

Your reasoning is sound, which is why I lean toward a single reveal.

I voted a single reveal, but I would love to see the coupe and HT convertible on stage together. I also am thinking like John, in that this reveal is not just an Evolutionary reveal of the Corvette but will be a total Revolution of the Corvette. I believe GM, Chevy and the Corvette Team will give us an awesome vehicle that many of us will be very proud of. 7-18-19 can't come soon enough!

Voted Both at the reveal. If not will they let everyone know there will be a Vert Reveal at that time?

I have no idea....this seems to be one of the longest approaching reveals ever...

i am finding gm is hamming this up like crazy...

ill throw my hat into the ring and say two seperate reveals just so GM can Torture corvette enthusiasts a little longer....and drag this out even further.....

My guess, it will be one reveal. As mentioned, arguably the largest / riskiest / most important reveal for the Corvette. Come out guns blazing. Here's the coupe, here's the convertible. I have no doubt there will be two models, even if the coupe is a targa. I myself miss my convertible(s) and look forward to seeing what the drop top ME looks like.

Look at all the variants the Carrera is able to sustain.

The fact that we've seen coupes and 'verts testing together, even as far back as the 'ring tests, also leads me to believe they're preparing to build and sell both from the beginning, which means revealing them both at the beginning.

I don't think I've ever seen a photo or video of the production line showing coupes and convertibles interspersed. So are they run in batches in production? Are colours run in batches as well? Photos seem to suggest it.

I voted yes because we have seen both cars testing together for some time. It will also be very interesting to see how many C8 cars will be shown there and could we see the C8racing car also. That would be very cool to see.

Nope, all interspersed. At least for the C7. During my last tour there, we saw coupes, convertibles, Stingrays, Z06s and the very first GS coming down the assembly line intermixed, and in multiple colors.
