Here’s an article from GMA. What do you think we shall see?

Previously, shots of the 2020 Corvette C8 revealed either placeholder headlamps, or production lights that were hidden under extensive camouflage and not turned on. Hence, this is our best look yet at the new model’s eye*****.

2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 Mid Engine - New York Drive 003 - Headlamp Image

The 2020 Corvette headlights have a very technical appearance, with an all-LED cluster and a slick blue tint, lending the front fascia an almost exotic flavor that does well to complement the model’s exterior styling and proportions. Alongside the C8’s wide, low stance and sharp angles, the LED headlamps seem like a perfect fit. Unfortunately, the housings are still a little obscured by camouflage in these pictures, but their internal structure is more obvious with the lighting elements activated.

The all-LED headlamp cluster in the 2020 Corvette C8 is a significant upgrade over the outgoing C7 Corvette’s headlamps. The C7 comes equipped with standard High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps with Xenon lighting elements and LED parking lights, plus LED turn signals. Whereas Xenon lights operate similarly to traditional halogen lights, replacing the halogen filament with xenon gas to produce light, LEDs utilize a light-emitting diode. As a result, LED lights tend to offer improved lighting, a longer operating life, and less energy consumption.

As a reminder, the 2020 Corvette C8 will introduce a mid-mounted engine, as opposed to the front-mounted engine of the previous seven generations of the Corvette. We’re still waiting on Chevrolet for confirmation, but it’s believed the 2020 Corvette C8 will come with a number of engine configuration options, including a new version of the GMSmall Block V8. Other possibilities include a new high-output DOHC V8 and a hybridized powertrain.

I wonder if the led light bar that runs from the back toward the front will also wrap around the bottom and connect. Every camo car so far has had tape on the bottom of the lens like these do hiding something like driving/fog lights or the led light bar. I guess we will know soon enough for sure.

the inner most light bar in the blue example the bend is too low towards the front of the car.

if you look at the test mules the 135 degree light bar bend is maybe three inches from the highest point of the headlight...

the blue sketch as cool as it is appears to have the bend down about 9 inches from the top of the liht bar peak which is incorrect in my opinion..

I remain unsure how the C8’s LED light strips will look.

I still think the renders are misreading what was a reflection at the NYC announcement as the actual shape of the running lights. If you look at the close up of the headlight on the camo car above, the light bars are straight, not curved.

And, oh by the way, the statement in that article "replacing the halogen filament with xenon gas to produce light" is wrong. Just wrong. Halogen is a gas, not a filament, and Xenon gas isn't what produces the light. If you're interested in how Xenon headlights actually work, and how they're different from halogen headlights, this isn't too bad.

I hope you are correct meyerweb, that the LED strips within the headlight are all straight lines. Thanks for the education on the the head-lighting method/process.

You are of course correct, meyerweb. The light bar DRLs are dead-nuts straight.

Glad to see the C8 will have LED headlights. Every other type of headlight is so twentieth century.
