GM will have to decide whether it follows the same path is has with the C7, with a few a la carte items, but mostly packages. Or go the Porsche model. Or go with one of those plus an option for light weight track special. The days of the lightweight C5 Z06 even with some options are probably over with crash regs and consumer demands (absent using expensive carbon fiber tub). The lightweight C6Z almost made it into production, but didn't - was shown as a concept.

Thus, door number 3 appears unlikely. So, door number 1 or 2? Porsche makes a veritable killing on options pricing. I don't know whether GM would have the appetite to go down that path or not - it can drive up the total price of a car a lot (want some fun? just jump on Porsche's website and do some "builds"; the options become like the grim reaper LOL).

I think door number 1 is most likely. Which returns to OP's initial question, what do you make standard that wasn't before. I agree with OP and John, NPP and Heads-up would be no-brainers, inexpensive and not huge weight penalties. If they make an equal, incremental step forward/up in design, material appearance and tactile feel they did from the C6 to the C7 with the new ME, it may not need much other than the usual "packages" we've seen before.

It will be interesting to see if gm iffers up a c8 with a base or softer suspension as standard of if gm will make MRC standard...

i think thats another area where gm would do well to make that suspension feature standard,

add in the extra cost for a mrc shock system to the standard price of a c8...

how about heavy duty radiators and transmission coolers of the z51variety...

will that be made standard answering the elephant in the room so many internet warriors want forever resolved for corvettes..( even though many never take their corvette to the track?)

somehow i think many feautees will be made standard to justify the higher price on the c8 and it will cut production variables...

if the rumor of a cadillac version ever comes to fruitition...maybe the cadillac version will do without many of the “track “like stamdard heavy duty features..

somehow even thogu often debunked...i believe cadillac will at some time in the future get a luxury sport rear mid engine vehicle...

somehow i see a large part of the paint booth improvement costs as well as some of the other bowling green expansion costs funded by the cadillac division...

just a wild *** guess on my part though..

i believe cadillacs product lime expamsion is a new vehicle every six months...for several years...

how long and how many cuv s and sedans will cadillac add until it finally reaches into the bowling green plant for one extra model to offer. JDN was truly intent on copying his success formula he used at audi..leven though parts of his plan were seriously out of date..

I agreed that NPP should be standard. This is a good thread topic. Thank you for raising it.

I would like to see HUD display made standard. It would be something special offered on the ME not standard on the C7’s that continue through 2020 (and probably 2021).

The second thing I would personally like to see if that the “entry interior” contains the other C7, 2LT options such as heated/cooled seats, the extra motion sensor alarm and similar.

At the same time, even though GM’s incremental cost for these “extras” would not be much for GM to absorb since they would be built into every ME, I hesitate to suggest additional options — for even the above would “elevate” it befitting a mid engine aiming to be an exotic sports car, but not raise its entry price too high.

A delicate balancing point for GM to be sure!

i was just wondering what options on a c7 should be made standard?

what options not even offered on the c7 should be offered on a c8?

ill start with an npp exhaust...

i dont know the percentages of c7 s sold with that feature but if you include grand sports, z51 s, z06 s and zr1s...

should gm just add the cost of npp to the c8 and make that feature standard...?

are there other options that should be made standard?

what would you like to see on the c8 at added costs would you be willing to pay for that maybe werent offered on the c7?
