Welcome to the forum. Didn't use "steelies" but used the cable chains without the steely covers in upstate NY.

Was thinking about getting black wheels on my C8 Blade Silver. What you think of that combo?

I like 5 spoke wheels. I don't like that center design, or the little divots at the end of each spoke.

Wheel thought: Going back to the “Mickey D” wheel option, one listed on the leaked specs is for it with Spectra Gray. My belief is that the this wheel, called in those specs as, “Machined Face w/ Spectra Gray, 5-Trident Spoke, Alum” (option code Q8S) has this Spectra Gray color for its barrels and it secondary spokes. I think this is that trident Spectra Gray wheel.

The specs also show us a wheel that is also “5-Trident,” but does not mention a machined face, and is listed as all black; in that configuration, they are option code “LPO.” which leads us to the question that as this latter wheel is an option code start with “LPO”,” we know it is a dealer accessory — what has heretofore been an expensive, dealer installed second set of wheels.

So either the specs are incomplete, are wrong, or these 5-Trident wheels in black will cost a bunch, and again be a second set you dealer sells you in addition to the wheels that arrive from the factory. Maybe you could use them for your mounting your A/S 3+ winter tires?

Sounds like it would provide an interesting contrast. What do I think? Well, I think you should choose something you'll enjoy! Maybe you'll be able to find a C8 in that combo so you can check what it looks like, or at least a photo somewhere. Going from photos always makes me nervous, but I guess actual C8's are going to be thin on the ground for a while.

Edit: John, I was a bit hesitant about that trident wheel, but it looked pretty good in the NYC drive-by. Also, thanks for mentioning that LPO indicates a dealer applied accessory. I didn't know that.

Black Trident wheels spotted in the wild. Those will look so good on a blue C8. Also note the body colored A pillars.

More wheel pictures thanks to Corvette_Nut. First the “open spoke” (GM’s term for it in silver). Then of course the 5-Trident wheel (again using GM’s terminology) in black. BTW though a repeat, I am working with a 144 year old American brush company as they are exploring making a triangular Wheel Woolie brush for the 5-Trident’s many triangular pockets.

Of the wheels shown so far, my preference is definitely the open spoke in silver. But none of the ones we've seen really excite me all that much. I wonder if the C7's Z51 wheels would fit?

The targa in John’s post #23 is our closest and clearest look at a spoiler-less car. I’ve been concerned that the rear view of the C8 will be bulky and unattractive but the clean and smooth shapes seen here give me new hope. A base 2020 Stingray like this with these open silver wheels might come the closest to the sophisticated look of a Ferrari.

Good catch ZL-1, it sure looks a lot better without that awkward spoiler. I wonder if it was strictly a decoy, something to throw us off track?

Good wheel picture found. Thanks to Tool Hoarder we have this best picture yet of the silver “open spoke wheel” (GM’s name for it, their option code Q8P).

5-Trident wheel close ups. We do not have any that are not road dirty, but as Chazcron took the road ones and cleaned them up, we have this good picture of what they look like, here with the Spectra Gray background (option code Q8T). However Spectra Gray is a glossy metallic, something we are not seeing here.

Here is how Spectra Gray looks on Z06’s. We have these wheels on ours and are very pleased with them.
