  • POLL: ME’s Reveal Place & Date

In our our dreams, the ME will be revealed tonight on national TV, but given that is at least a little unlikely, what are you thinking?

“Itomn” just got us thinking with his thoughtful post about how Pebble Beach would be a great place for its reveal.

If you choose “other,” please post below where else might it be revealed?

Secondly, please: If you are thinking split reveal dates for the coupe, and separately for the HT convertible, please select your first event, but again thanks for posting a comment below, such as, “I voted for the LA Show for the coupe, and NAIAS for the HT convertible.”

    1) Pebble Beach/Quail Motorsports Gatherings: August 24th

    2) Paris Auto Show: October 4th

    3) Petit LeMans: October 12-13 @Road Atlanta

    4) LA Auto Show: December 1st

    5) NAIAS on January 14th (Detroit)

    6) Chicago Auto Show: February 9th

    7) Geneva Auto Show: March 7th

    8) New York Auto Show: April 19th

    9) Other???

    Thank you for voting.

I hope they do it early enough that we will get to see it at The Bash in April.

We will definitely see several at the BASH. GM typically makes four Corvette show cars, so my belief is that this time they will make two coupes, two HT convertibles. Additional to the two ME show cars I expect to see at the BASH, once they reveal the car and the camo is taken off the test fleet, others there that will then been field tested/driven around by Tadge, Harland, Kirk, Kai and more, so while some of the latter ME’s at the BASH will be pre-production stage 2 IVERS, not show car tolerance models, I would not be surprised if by our wandering around the BASH grounds, we get to see around 6 ME’s there, maybe even more of them.

Also thinking back to the C7, they revealed it at NAIAS as we all remember, and there were two C7 show cars at the BASH, and many more Stingrays in the parking lots having been individually driven there by top Corvette team members. Once the car is revealed, I will feel comfortable communicating with those folks and asking them to bring as many of their person test cars in as many different colors as they possibly can to the BASH.

I would not be surprised if we have 3,000+ Folks in attendance at the BASH (about 50% more than they have ever had for that event).

I am voting a split ballot, the coupe to be revealed at the LA Auto Show, the HT convertible at NAIAS if it is ready (if not at Geneva). These are totally guesses, for no insider is willing to share on the record, and as I have posted before, I am not even sure GM has made a final decision yet as to its initial reveal, for it could still be dependent on testing results this summer and fall.

While I voted that way, I hope I am wrong, for the prestige and notoriety of it being revealed at Pebble Beach/Quail, would be the vote of my ♥️!

Since Chevrolet has now displayed the early mid engine Corvette Cerv's from the sixty's, seventy's, and eighties at the Detroit Grand Prix and now the Concour D'Elegance of America in Michigan it makes total sense to continue down that path. The Monterey Classic Car week with it's crown jewel show "Pebble Beach Concour D'Elegance" would garner more captured potential buyers than any single car show in America or Europe. The entire Classic car week has more mid engine sports car manufacturers displaying their latest than any event anywhere in the entire world. There are at least five venues during the week where the Corvette Zora could be displayed to thousands of potential buyers. No other world Exotic Car event comes remotely close to this. The Quail, Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca, and the Concept Car Display at the Pebble Beach Concour are the top three venues to focus on initially. There are three other events that could also work. We have to remember that this is a huge event for all other Sports Car companies as well. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, Konnigsegg, Bugatti, McLaren, Porsche, Aston Martin, Audi, Mercedes Benz AMG, BMW, Jaguar, Bentley, Rolls Royce all have Salons set up and some even have huge multi-million dollar temporary buildings set up to capture the buyer. It is HUGE ! All eyes would be on GM and the Corvette team especially Porsche since the Zora could really take sales from them more than any other. All manufacturers have ride and drive programs to entice the buyers and the Salons with sales experts to assist in configuring their cars to the potential buyer. Since I live in nearby Carmel I will go out and monitor the Salon installations and construction of the temporary showrooms to see if GM and Corvette are setting up a display. Hopefully they will as the exposure from this weeks worth of International shows would send Corvette into the world limelight. Stay tuned !!

Just some thoughts with absolutely no basis in fact..... The sooner the C8 is revealed, the sooner sales/orders for the ZR1 'tank'. Delaying the reveal will go a long way to stretching out the market viability of the ZR1. As much as I'd like to see the ME earlier, I believe the show in Detroit in January is the place. It will be the last time the show will be held there in January, I believe, so they will take advantage of the global motoring press presence. While I'm really holding out for a 'vert', I'm afraid it will debut sometime later only because of the additional complications on the assembly line. That could be months or even a year.

SKANK.... I saw these multi story manufacturers displays at the Goodwood Festival of Speed a couple weeks ago in the UK. WOW!!! Talk about a marketing statement.....
2020 HTC Torch Red with lots of goodies. Built in September. Museum Delivered in October......

Other toys in the garage: Ferrari California, BMW i8 Roadster, Bentley Flying Spur, Chevy SSr

I hope it is revealed at Pebble Beach Concours, for that is just a couple of weeks away.

I think wherever they reveal it they ought to give enough notice so people could get there.
Pebble Beach may be great but I’m sure that it’s not where the general Corvette faithful will be.

Classic Car Week on the Monterey Peninsula and Corvettes at Carlisle have the same exact dates this year. Now, think about that for a minute ???????

Got me. Maybe one doesn’t pay much attention to the other.
Our Corvette club is thinking of chartering a plane and doing NAIS if they reveal there.

ZR1 sales tanked the moment the C8R was revealed. Going to be a lot of good deals on ZR1s and a lot of great deals on ZO6/Grand Sports

Detroit. With sticking it to Porsche as the backdrop graphic....as a helicopter parades it around the city. Here’s to the next 66 years.
