  • Improved C8 HUD Coming?

Thanks to Zaro Tundov, we have this video find. Well done Zaro! BTW, this is a nine year old video, so lots more developments have happened since.

The HUD has improved every Corvette generation since it came out, and yet we and GM knows it must further improve for the C8. I am betting this is another C8 upside surprise.

Personally, I love the C7 HUD and I'm excited to see how the engineers have enhanced it in the C8.

I drive mostly in Track Mode (such crisp throttle response), and I really like the Track Mode HUD light bar. When the dots converge and begin to turn violent violet, it's time to grab another gear or risk the embarrassment of kissing the rev-limiter.

I'd also love to see some augmented reality integrated into the C8 HUD.

Improved C8 interior. I was talking with a member of the Corvette development team yesterday and while he would not say world one, would provide no specifics, he affirmatively confirmed, and smiled in response to my comment about “looking forward to the C8’s improved interior.”

As to what that means, the famous “you will have to wait until 7.18.19” was an immediate response comment from another Corvette team member who was also part of the conversation.

Guess we collectively are going to do a powerful lot of waiting during the next 81 days.

I really like the C7 HUD and if the C8 HUD is anything like the video it’s one more amazing improvement to look forward to as the days (47)count down. Then probably add almost a year on to that before we can get one. Talk about Chinese drip torture!!!

I wonder if a system that can highlight potential dangers in front of you a la iron man, would be too confusing or distracting?

Most of the time, I keep my HUD set so it's only displaying the speed. The fewer distractions the better. If I'm driving in such a way that the tach matters, then I'll switch to a display that includes that. Otherwise, I don't want or need a lot of extraneous information in my field of view.
