A new, exciting C8 yellow might be coming... It probably will not be SHOCK!
All along, many of us have been thinking that the C8’s yellow color, based on GM very often introducing a new paint color across several of its new models roughly at the same time, that with the 2019 release of “SHOCK” on both the 2019 BOLT and the 2019 Camaro, we could also be getting SHOCK for the 2020 C8???
As reference, the GM paint code for SHOCK is GKO (WA628D).
Here is what SHOCK looks like:

Several paint companies reference as a SHOCK as “green” color (not as a yellow) — which makes sense to many of us who have seen it in person. A tactful/understated “no thanks” is how some such observers have described it. In the fire service, that green yellow color is often called “slime.” Need we say more...
Thanks to Jalopnik’s alleged C8 specs, we see it is listed as GD0, named Accelerate Yellow Metallic. From those specs...

It is listed as GD0, not as SHOCK’s GKO. So if maybe not SHOCK, what would the C8’s yellow be?
Tadge asked at the 2018 BASH, “how many would like a return to bright yellow such as Millennium Yellow or Velocity Yellow?” Many yellow lovers in the audience enthusiastically gave him a double-thumbs-up.
Might Millenium Yellow be returning? Probably not, for its paint code was “79” (GM RPO code WA423G); Velocity Yellow’s code was G8A (WA300N) and so “no” for it too. Might GM be continuing on for the 2020 ME as Corvette Racing Yellow? Probably not, for its paint code is GC6 (WA386A). Thus, none of those three even closely match up with the Jalopnik C8 specs.
Again, the C8’s paint code GD0 is not the paint code for SHOCK, nor it is for any of the other aforementioned Corvette yellow colors.
My next thought was that it could be just a typo in the Jalopnik paint code specs, that it the 2020 Corvette yellow might be SHOCK (again with a paint code typo). However, the “D” and the “K” are thankfully many letters away on a keyboard. Then looking at the differences a second time, I realize that whereas SHOCK ends with the letter “O,” the code for Accelerate Yellow Metallic ends with the number “0.”
This leaves us to the hope that instead of the 2020 Corvette getting SHOCK, that the yet-to-learn-about Accelerate Yellow Metallic is a brand new GM color that we have yet seen.
We hope for a yellow that is truly wonderful, bold and alive (with no green in it); with our knowing the C8 yellow definitely having metallic in its name, we certainly are part way to having a nice bright, mesmerizing, and exciting 2020 C8 yellow color.
Can anyone help us learn more about what Accelerate Yellow Metallic looks like please?
