  • C8 Specs Appear To Be Leaked By Jalopnik

The apparent C8’s specs, colors and more that follows is directly from, and thanks to Jalopnik.

However please note that the following information was probably taken from a Canadian dealership , and is some information that is believed to be at least in violation of GM dealership agreements. As posted by Dave Salvatore, (“Dave@Kerbeck), here is his cautionary note:

“But if the person was taking screenshots from GM Global Connect and sharing them publicly, that’s a major violation of the dealer’s franchise agreement. Also, dealer’s are not supposed to share any information they know that is not available to the public.”

At the least, here is here for you to have fun with; that is after you have independently determined whether you believe it is accurate, or as some there have said, it is too early for April Fools Day.

At least a small amount of it does not jibe with what a little birdie whispered to me. Could that birdie have been part of the wrong flock? Could it have heard something incorrectly, or is some or a lot of this info not accurate. Of course, we will only know the full truth at the time of the official reveal, repeatedly being whispered as “some time this summer,” and our then listening to what is shared at the reveal and in the official GM press release.

This leaked info shared in the screen prints below, does seem to confirm the “1YC07 Stingray Code” we saw in a U.S. dealership print out several months ago.

Here is the information that showed up Friday at this Jalopnik link (written by Bozi Tatarevic)

Though it’s apparently suffering from some development delays, details about the mid-engine 2020 Chevrolet Corvette are staring to trickle out at a faster pace. Now, an anonymous tipster has clued us in on potential technical details with screenshots of what appears to be the order guide for the model.

Engine and transmission availability are listed, along with many of the other options like suspension and tire types and interior details. And while we cannot immediately guarantee their accuracy, based on other order guides and spec sheets we have seen—along with other known intel about the car—we believe they are legitimate.

The first screen shot starts out with the powertrain details and shows that the sole engine option on this document is coded as LT2. The abbreviations for the engine state that it is a high output aluminum eight-cylinder engine with direct injection, variable-valve timing, and Active Fuel Management. This engine is likely a refresh of the current LT1 engine, which means that it will be the base option and should make somewhere between 460 and 500 horsepower based on the specs of the current model.

Rumors have circled that the C8 will be the first Corvette with a dual-clutch transmission, and this document appears to confirm it. The sheet lists an “M1L” transmission code that is described as an “Auto 8-Speed, Dual Clutch.”

This code is new as the current traditional eight-speed automatic is coded as “M5U.” The dual clutch part is not surprising but it does have one more gear than the Tremec TR-9070 transmission that was previously speculated for it.

Rear axle ratios of 3.62 and 3.80 are listed, which are very different than what the C7 currently employs. The current manual cars get a 3.42 ratio while the autos see a 2.41 ratio in the Z06 and ZR1 and a 2.73 for the rest. The taller gearing is likely associated with the ratios of the DCT and a rear end with shorter gears is currently not listed since a manual gearbox option is not on the sheet.

Suspension option codes appear to be passed down from the C7 with FE1 continuing to be the base suspension. The FE2 option of standard Magnetic Ride is not listed but the FE3 option of the Z51 Performance suspension and the FE4 option of Z51 with Magnetic Ride are present.

The base tire option is now listed as XFN, with the fronts staying in the same 245/35ZR19 size as the C7 but the rears growing from 285 profile tire to a 305/30SR20. An optional XFQ tire set is also listed in the same size with an RF4 abbreviation, and that is likely for a different compound. Four wheels are listed, all of which are five-spoke aluminum models that are finished in bright silver, “carbon flash,” machined, and machine w/Spectra Gray. The wheel can be outfitted with either a Stingray or Corvette Jake logo center cap.

A code marked AE4 (just like the one for the C7) is described as “Competition Sport Bucket” seats while a new AH2 option is also available that lists “body contoured GT2" seats. Another page shows that these GT2 seats will be available in leather or suede and in various colors for at least 17 different combinations.

The brake system codes are also retained from the C7, with JL9 being the base brake system while J55 is the code for the Z51 performance package brakes. The brake calipers are listed as being available in variety of colors. Only one infotainment option is listed and described as “Premium SD NAV.”

Now, onto the colors. There’s many on here similar to the current C7 lineup, including Torch Red and Sebring Orange Tintcoat. But there’s some new ones here too, like Rapid Blue and Zeus Bronze.

The roof is available in at least four different configurations with “dual roof” listed for the first two options, visible carbon fiber listed for the third, and a transparent top for the fourth. Based on the list, it appears that there will be two separate removable roof panels.

A sample order sheet was also included in the documents from the tipster and it shows that the vehicle will be a 2020 model year with a “1YC07" model code. This sample order form shows many of the same items that are listed on the order guide but adds a few more hints like the “SC7" option code will be a storage bag for the removable hard top.

Other details listed on the sample order form include the drivers and passengers seats being described as being two-way or eight-way powered, and the mirrors as being heated and power folding. Electronic Limited Slip is also signified with the G96 option.

More details are also seen regarding the screen and infotainment system as the UDV option lists the color cluster and driver information display as being 12-inches in size, with U2L listing a Digital Audio System and UVA showing that it will have front and rear camera. The usual OnStar descriptor is also listed along with a 14-speaker Bose Performance Series audio system.

The Performance Data Recorder also appears on the list, along with a rear cross-traffic alert sensor and an “interior movement” sensor that could either be related to the anti-theft system or possibly a driver monitoring device. The Performance Traction Management system also appears to carry over as it is shown on that sample form.

The remaining items on the list appear to be safety related as a vehicle inclination sensor is listed along with side blind zone alert and rear park assist.

These documents appear to show that the C8 Corvette is similar in a lot of ways to the current model, with the biggest departure being the new dual clutch transmission—and of course where the engine will sit. Since the options list is fairly conservative, this is likely a planned order guide for a launch model as the Z51 package is the highest performance package that is shown. We look forward to finding out more as we get closer to the reveal of the car.

Interesting how they state that it was probably a Canadian dealership but you can see at the top of the first image that it was Whitmoyer Buick-Chevrolet. A 1.3 second google search shows they're in Mount Joy, PA.

I am excited about the front axle lift system being an option. With my lowered C7 Z06, there are places I can not get into nor out of due to steep driveway aprons. It will be my first option box I checked. We thought we would have that option since we saw this leaked CAD drawing a long time ago, with it showing the hydraulic line coming out of the bottom of the shock.

The wait for details on the 2020 Corvette has been agonizing, with nary an official word from Chevrolet, forcing us to rely on deep background sources for any shred of detail on the mid-engine car. The latest leak of information comes in the form of a post on Corvette Forum where a user has shared an images of what he claims is a newly ordered configuration.

Corvette Forum user NBVette4U announced his return from configuring his new C8 Corvette with a summary sheet and several photos of the configuration options on a computer screen. While there is plenty of detail and some consistency with current Corvette option codes, some of the information is off enough to make us skeptical.

For starters, the sheet indicates a front tire size of 245/35ZR10—we very much doubt the C8 has 10-inch front wheels, so either this is an egregious typo or evidence of a fake. The front and rear tire size is identical to the current Acura NSX, which either makes perfect sense or (one could argue) supports further uncertainty as to whether or not this is a hoax.

The original poster of the details calls out that it is a mid-engined car, however none of the details in the order sheet appear to confirm this. The only transmission mentions is an eight-speed dual-clutch, meaning the initial rumors of the C8 dropping a manual option could be confirmed. As we mentioned before, this is likely a variation on the Tremec-sourced gearbox used in both the Ford GT and upcoming Mustang Shelby GT500.

The engine is labeled as a LT2, which is likely a revision of the current-generation LT1. Listing direct injection, Active Fuel Management, and variable valve timing, an educated guess would put this engine somewhere in the 500-horsepower club. The current LT1 puts out 460 hp with the optional active exhaust. Displacement is listed at 6.2 liters, further aligning with the current LT1 architecture.

If this document is to be believed, it also announces three new exterior color options—Zeus Bronze, Accelerate Yellow, and Rapid Blue.

The user posting the information also noted that pricing was not given, leaving us in the dark yet on exactly what the C8 pricing structure will be.

We will continue to update this story as we gather more information.

11 HOURS AGO BY JAY TRAUGOTT LEAKED

GM couldn't keep this hidden forever.

A member of the Corvette Forum, username NBVette4U, recently visited his local Chevy dealer in Canada in order to "configure my new Mid Engine Stingray Z51 C8.” That’s right. Apparently, it’s already possible to do this despite the fact that the C8 hasn’t been revealed. Due to some development delays, a debut isn’t expected until later this summer. But this forum member also took the opportunity when placing his order to photograph some computer screen configurator pages for our viewing pleasure. Let's dig in.

These images clearly show a C8 order sheet which shows this buyer will get the LT2 V8 paired to a new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, codenamed M1L. More than likely, the LT2 is an updated version of the 6.2-liter V8 with an output of around 500 hp. Today’s LT1 produces 460 hp. And yes, this is the Stingray base model.

As Jalopnik also discovered, customers will have two rear-axle ratios of 3.62 and 3.8. To compare, manual-equipped C7s have a 3.42 ratio while autos have a 2.41 in the Z06 and ZR1 and a 2.73 for the others. And speaking of manuals, based on these leaked images, there doesn’t appear to be a manual option.

Buyers will also have a choice between three suspension options, including the current FE1, FE3 with the Z51 Performance Package, and FE4 for the Z51 with Magnetic Ride Control. Two tire options will be offered, with base models measuring at 245/35 up front and 305/30 at the rear. Wheel sizes are 19-inches at the front and 20-inches out back. There’s also a second option, which we’re pretty sure is a typo, saying 10-inch wheels are up front. Two aluminum wheel options are available in five finishes: Pewter, Bright Silver, Carbon Flash, Machined Face with Sterling Silver for the 5-Open Spoke, and a 5-Trident Spoke with a Machined Face with Spectra Gray.

                  • Mid-engine Corvette details
                  • Production lights reveal themselves in new photos.

Sometimes you come across news that's like finding your favorite dish in the 'fridge ten days past expiry date, giving off a faintly dubious scent. You really want to enjoy it, but you just aren't sure. Corvette Forum user NBVette4U said he visited his local dealer in Canada and "configured my new Mid Engine Stingray Z51 C8." What follows are phone-camera images of computer screen configurator pages and a printout of the final vehicle spec. There's some fine fruit for plucking among the details. There are also doubts about veracity.

NBVette4U - who used the name Chris Smith on the paperwork - said he sat down with a sales manager to order the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette, and that any other Canadian could confirm it. Another Canadian showed up in the thread and said he couldn't confirm it.

We don't see how a sales manager leaves a customer alone long enough for that customer to take pictures of all the option screens for a vehicle General Motors still won't confirm exists, then gives said customer a printout of the goods. To date, the most revealing statement GM's made about the C8 was GM's president of global product Mark Reuss saying, "This is the end of the C7. That I can tell you... [And] we are very proud of what's going to happen on C8."

If the forum information is accurate, our guess would be that Mr. Smith has access to GM's WorkBench Connect dealer software or something like it. Also, according to the paperwork, Mr. Smith ordered his Corvette in Accelerate Yellow Metallic with a complete Morello Red interior. Which is, uh, something. Accelerate Yellow is supposedly one of three new exterior colors in the 12-strong palette, along with Zeus Bronze and Rapid Blue.

Forum members are skeptical enough to keep the post from going more than one page, but let's look at what the figures show in case the cache turns out to be true. The VIN is listed as 1YC07. According to a thread on Corvette Forum in January, those five digits are said to denote the C8 coupe. The LT2 engine code is for a 6.2-liter high-output gasoline V8 with direct injection, active fuel management, and variable valve timing. The LT2 could reference an evolution of the current 6.2-liter LT1 that right now puts out 460 hp in the C7.

The only transmission listed is codenamed M1L, an eight-speed, dual-clutch automatic. Pundits have predicted a seven-speed Tremec dual-clutch transmission for the ME Corvette for years, ever since Tremec bought Belgian transmission maker Hoerbiger Drivetrain Mechatronics for its dual-clutch expertise. It was also expected that the unit in the Corvette would be the same as in the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. While the additional gear would be a sizable surprise, the listed rear axle ratios raise the eyebrows: either 3.62 or 3.80. The eight-speed traditional automatic in the C7 has a 2.73 ratio in all but the Z06 and ZR1, those two variants getting a 2.41 ratio.

The current FE1, FE3 with Z51 Performance suspension, and FE4 with Z51 and Magnetic Ride suspension packages make the move to the C8, but the FE2 doesn't, at least not yet. Two aluminum wheel options come in five finishes: Pewter, Bright Silver, Carbon Flash, Machined Face with Sterling Silver for the 5-Open Spoke - perhaps this wheel, and a 5-Trident Spoke - this wheel - with a Machined Face with Specta Gray.

There are two typos in the tire selection, hence more side-eyes at Mr. Smith's information. The XFN tire package comes with 245/35 ZR 19 rubber in front, just like the C7, and 305/30 ZR 20 tires in the back, 20 mm wider than the C7's rears. The optional XFQ package mis-labels the front tires as 10-inchers, but the only substantive change is the RF4 designation. By the way, know what other go-fast coupe wears tires with identical sizes? The mid-engined Acura NSX.

Inside, the standard thrones are AE4 Competition Sport Bucket seats, with AH2 Body Contoured Sport Bucket GT2 seats optional. Between suede and leather options there are 20 ways to trim the GT2 buckets.

Carryover options from C7 days include the dual roof packages, and electronic limited-slip differential, and Performance Data Recorder. Extra special options include the E60 Adjustable Front Lift Height system, the 12-inch color driver information display, and the DRZ Full Video Display Mirrors that GM got the NHTSA to approve for the Cadillac CT6.

Among the convenience features is Side Blind Zone alert - otherwise known as blind-spot monitoring. The Corvette has never had this feature, while other Chevy products like the Cruze did. When asked why the C7 didn't get it, Corvette chief engineer Tadge Jeuchter answered, "SBZ uses sensors located on the rear outboard corner of the car, just behind the fascia. That is precisely the location we needed to package our race-derived transmission and differential coolers. Having heat exchangers in the back corners interfered with both the physical space need for the sensors and disrupted their performance. In the end, we prioritized vehicle performance over a new feature that we were not sure would be a strong customer desire." Make of that what you will.

That's just another tab in the browser for a different web page.

Is there any doubt about if this is related to a C7 refresh or C7 Final Edition? 1YC07 doesn't correspond to the current front engine car correct?

The wheels appear to be an exact description of what we see on the mid engine car.

GM Authority on the leaks. Note the referred to documents 1-4 in the link are in the first post of this thread.

The order guide for the mid engine Corvette C8 has allegedly leaked online, giving us a better understanding of what’s in store for Chevrolet’s highly anticipated new supercar.

The leaked order guide, which was sent to Jalopnik by an anonymous tipster, includes details about the mid engine Corvette’s powertrain, suspension and optional extras. If it is to be believed, the base version of the supercar will feature a 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine. This jives with rumors we’ve heard that the base mid engine Corvette C8would be offered with an evolved version of the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 found in the Corvette C7. Details on this new ‘LT2’ Small Block are slim, but you can expect it to produce more than 460 hp. Like the LT1, this engine will also have direct injection, variable-valve timing, and Active Fuel Management, the order guide indicates.

Also listed on the order guide is a new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, which carries the option code ‘M1L’. There’s two rear axle ratios of 3.62 and 3.80, too, which are much taller than the Corvette C7’s rear end ratios. This is likely due to the ratios for the new dual-clutch transmission, Jalopnik’s Bozi Tatrevic points out.

Three suspension setups will be offered, if this order guide is accurate. The base suspension is described as 4 wheel independent, while Z51 Performance suspension and Z51 Magnetic Selective Ride Control is available for extra. Four wheels options are listed as well, including the 5-spoke design (above) and 5-trident design, both of which we believe we’ve seen on pre-production prototypes. Two tire options are also shown, although a typo incorrectly lists one of the tire sizes at 10-inches.

Other notable options in the order guide include an electronic limited slip differential, a Z51 brake package, the Performance Data Recorder, ‘Contoured GT2’ bucket seats and red, yellow or black brake calipers. Painted, carbon fiber and transparent removable targa tops will be on offer as well, much like the C7 Corvette, with a Dual Roof option available.
And then there’s the colors. Exterior colors will apparently include: Long Beach Red Metallic, Sebring Orange Tintcoat, Arctic White, Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic, Blade Silver Metallic, Shadow Gray Metallic, Rapid Blue, Elkhart Lake Blue Metallic and Zeus Bronze. A vast array of interior themes will seemingly be offered too, with upholstery colors including Jet Black, Sky Cool Gray, Natural and Adrenaline Red.

The mid engine Corvette C8 is expected to debut later this year, although it is understood that unforeseen delays in the vehicle’s development have pushed its launch date back.
