Removable top?

  • Removable top?

I guess we have pretty much concluded that the ME will have a removable roof. I was wondering if a clear top will be an option, as it is now. Looking at the interior, I think that having the firewall up against the seat backs would be a little claustrophobic.

If the removable/targa top is on coupes I see no reason they wouldn't offer it. Even being the slightly plus size super model that I am, I'm perfectly fine with a smaller cabin.

Having a wall behind the seats (and we yet do not know whether it would one inch, three inches or X inches behind the seat backs, could be an issue to some. However, having fantastically improved front vision might counteract that feeling to those who are not initially thrilled with that separation wall between the back of the seats and the motor.

What if the C8’s cabin is the same size as the C7’s? I have heard that “if you can fit into a C7, you can fit into a C8?” As ME’s are typically wider than FE’s, might the C8’s cabin be actually wider? If so, might that give a positive space feeling to the ME which counteracts or partially counteracts the behind the seat separation wall?

We have so much yet to learn. I agree Shrike6, that we have concluded that the top is removable (both on the coupe and on the HT convertible).

Based on the recent interior photo showing the seats and window behind them, I think there's more room behind the seats than in my C7 'vert. Although the rear window in the 'vert is much further back than in the ME.

I agree... on my c7, my biggest gripe would be that the seat does not go back far enough for me. The interior C8 pics were exciting to see, and with what looked to be increased depth for the seat.

My only concern is that the firewall is in such close proximity to the headrests. In my C6 coupe, there is space under the glass hatch that is open all the way to the cabin, giving a more open feeling. It’s only a perception on my part. Likely, with a glass roof panel, I will be perfectly happy.
