  • POLL: Z06 Reveal Date?

Now that GM has announced the Z06 will be revealed this fall, and we have known for centuries that fall is Wednesday, September 22nd through Tuesday, December 21st, when might the Z06’s reveal occur?

Will the first entry seems to be the obvious one, and while GM has heretofore done a reveal in conjunction with NAIAS, might they instead want their completely separate own event?

As ABorC noted two years after the C8’s Stingray reveal we got this Z06 reveal news. So as the HTC was revealed on October 2nd at the Kennedy Space Center, might there be a pattern and the C8 Z06 also be revealed at KSC on October 2nd?

I like your suggestion. As a previous Petit LeMans they did a partial announcement of an upcoming event for some C7 model, so maybe?

I completely give them my approval for the Cape in October. Great Weather also that time of the year.

They revealed the ZR1 close to the timing of a previous LA Auto Show but at a different venue. GM is like many manufacturers seems to be moving toward having their special events being totally separate from other events — so that are 100% of the event’s focus. Sometimes they did their reveal the day before, and while a different location had it in the same city as a major auto event. And as we all know, sometimes held a Corvette reveal all by itself, not remotely related to anything else.

The more I think of this poll and our individual and collective results and thinking, the more that I come to the conclusion that GM will reveal it when it is ready to be revealed. Duh, no kidding for quite obvious. But there is a touch more behind the obvious. BGA, again just an opinion, will not start production until after July 4th (if then), and GM has to before then balance several competing factors. First they want it out as early as possible so they can test it without camo for the final aero tuning. We even remember Tadge saying to us when the C7 Z06 was shown at the 2014 April Bash (though revealed at NAIAS in January months before), “that we are still doing fine tuning on the wickerbill angle and size and so what you see here today could be slightly changed.” Later we found out that the changes were fractional angle modification of the wickerbill’s canting/curving and tiny amounts of length in one measurement — so he was talking final tuning.

But second they still have more track testing at Milford, Yuma and perhaps elsewhere so it is not yet ready for a reveal. Lastly the longer the time between the reveal and the start or production, the more impatient (some grumpy) people become, so putting all this together I am revising my vote on this poll to now believe the reveal will be the first ten days of December. [Of course not based on anything other than ideas in this post — for however right or wrong they might be.]

And BTW if you missed another post there remains 154 days maximum before the Z06’s reveal (for December 21st is the last day of fall this year).

Great thinking John and makes sense. I still am hoping in October though. December will have everyone's thoughts, traveling plans, and bank accounts occupied on the Holiday Season.

John is technically correct about fall lasting into December, but most people do not include December in their working definition of fall. I think October and voted late October because...I don't have a clue.

Somewhat off topic: I leave open the possibility that if GM/Chevy did some unannounced college bowl sponsorship then December could be a possibility. Just think if they did a deal with the SEC to make the reveal during the halftime show of the SEC championship game. Talk about a big television audience.

GM will again do a “for all” live video feed, but the Z06 reveal itself will be a contained, specific location, via invite only, event — just like the C8’s 7.18.19 reveal.

I remember well how one year before the C8’s reveal, we had a Corvette club meeting show of hands and only two (my friend and I) were pro the mid-engine, but the night of the reveal there had a local club reveal party and just more than half attended and when one counted how many other club members watched the C8 StingRay’s reveal live at their own homes that night, it was just under 2/3’s of the club in total.

I am guessing that we are going to find many Corvette club’s do a reveal party again at someone’s how or a sports bar that has a very large TV and they will hoop and holler at home again just like as on 7.18.19

“Chevrolet will unveil the C8 ZO6 in California, How bought in conjunction with the IMSA race at Long Beach (Sept 24-26).”

FUnny how autoshows are irrelevant to new car releases these days. Social media and off sight reveals were becoming the best way to economically and more powerfully launch new vehicles to the public whereas for decades car show schedules were adhered to for launching new vehicles.

it was changing before covid but after is a whole new world.

Guessing launch dates now is really pie in the sky but fun all the same,

Anyone know if the july 2019 launch of the c8 and then the c8 touring roadshow around the country to different dealerships was considered a massive contributor to the c8 sales and marketing success?

just curious...If anyone asked Harlan or Tadge that question?
