Can someone photoshopped-skilled please take the above rendering and part of this and remove the wing entirely? I think that will help us imagine the entry C8 Z06? Thank you.

I honestly don't think the C8 z06 will look any closer to the race car than the C7 z06 did to the c7 race car.

Not for the "z06 friendly" budget GM has always given us and not because of what's on the horizon with later variants.

Center exhaust looks SO MUCH better than standard C8 setup. And round tips vs. squared!

I was thinking that the engine would be more or less the same. History---The C5-R went to the 7.0 liter. The C6 Z06 was a LS7 7.0 liter. The C6-R , I believe, used the LS7 too. d

So the C8 Z06 and C8R will both use the 5.5 liter FPC. Assumption! And assume some look-a-like exterior details. Big brother little brother with the little brother higher revving and HP but with body fat .

The big mystery is just how much will the Z06 give up on comfort in favor of race-car-ish performance. Will it rival the GT3 RS? Get lighter instead of stronger?

For reference, the C7-R race car used a 5.5L naturally aspirated engine. The C7 z06 got a 6.2 supercharged engine.

We can't look at GM's race cars and assume that same engine, or anything close to it, will go in the road going high performance variant. Because that doesn't happen.

Other than the wing, I think that's the best looking body kit I've seen so far for the C8. I won't be buying it, but it appears to be nicely proportioned and not over done like so many.

It’s a stretch to think that the Z06 will not have a version of the C8R FPC…..

Under the rules the C8.R has been racing they had to make/sale 500 FPC motors. I doubt for development (economic) reasons that they would do that and then develop a different motor for the rest of the Z06’s.

Unless, arguing against what I just posted, what if there will be four Z06 versions, one a Z06.R or Z06.X which are the only variant of the Z06 which has the FPC, has that amazing looking wing, only comes with Cup 2 R compound tires e.g., are truly track only beasts (not street licensable).

The only way for it to be possible, is like john said, have multiple variants of the z06 itself.

Have a very powerful street version of the z06 (by the means of forced induction again) and have a "competition" or an rs like model, that's lightweight, lots of aero, and have the same 5.5L that's in the C8-R race car.

Otherwise there's going to be many people that's going to be disappointed if they think the z06 will just only offer the same 5.5L engine that's na.

Will just have to agree to disagree as I highly doubt you’ll see GM make the 500 units necessary under IMSA rules after the investment needed for the new engine.

The C8 Z06 will almost certainly be the last full ICE powered Corvette and was intended from the start to put the brand ‘on par’ with the other high performance sports cars out there. As such, much like the FE/RWD body style, the original push-rod small block has run its course.

BTW… there are plenty of YouTube videos out there of camo’d C8s testing and with what is clearly NOT a traditional push-rod motor.

Yes. They put a SC in C7 and called it Z06. Why not diesel. Aberration is aberration.

                            Z06 tap-out to the GT3?

The new GT3 broke 7 minutes at the Ring. Six cylinders. Naturally aspirated. 4.0 L.

The Z06 is 8 cylinders. 5.5 L. If they need to put twin turbos on it to run with the GT3. Then it its a tap-out.

Especially with the TT ZR1 and TT Zora coming.

If there is a problem, then diet.

No following your logic. If the Z06 were 1 second or 4 seconds slower on one lap fo the Nurburgring but costs + $70,000 more to by the new GT3, that is a tap out?

Yep is sure is a tap out to me for obscenely excessive cost.

Or alternatively it is a tap out for neither; it is just that they have different strengths and weaknesses.
