  • This car is going to have A LOT of active aero...

At least one of the models is going to... I got a lot of the info from here and some other sites but this thing is really shaping up to be a beast. With that much active aero there's no way it doesn't tear up the track.

I like an active spoier up fromt..i hate that plastic spoiler in springs scraping pulling into certain driveways or going over speed humps..

id pay for active aero over fals system to get away from hearing that scraping noise in daily driving these cars.

id prefer a small rear lip ducktail or if need be an active rear spoiler over the weird fixed rear spoiler we have seen on the spy photos of the c8 would be cool.

Agreed JB! Please GM some option other than the winged spoiler was have been almost exclusively seeing. Active aero will not be an inexpensive option, and if it were to appear, probably would not be until the Z06+ versions.

      Thanks HorsePowerObsessed.

Totally agree. I wouldn't mind to see some sort of front end lift system on this car, either.

While I still have my OEM carbon fiber splitter, a few of my friends are on their second or third splitter due to damage. There was places I truly do not visit because their driveway aprons are so steep, ones that I can not get into due to my lowered C7 Z06. My primary Chevron gas station is one that I only enter/exit through one entrance for that same reason.

I'm the same way. I am luckily still on my first splitter but definitely map out my destination first if I haven't been there before to make sure the entrance isn't steep!

We shouldn't assume that just because GM has patented all these things they're going to show up on a C8. Lots of Patents never get used, and others don't show up until many years later.

Definitely true! I hope it all gets used in the C8 at some point, though. That's one thing that could really help put this car over the top.

Active Aero (front & back) that is controlled by the speed of the car, especially the rear spoiler, which in low speed should not be active or you burn a lot of gas, driving around under 50 MPH.
However, Active Aero "can" get expensive. Not sure which car it was, the Active Aero option was about $10,000 which did not have anything to do with lowering the front, but both front and rear would move accordingly. And this was 3-4years ago when the manufacture offered it.
This could be optional on C8 with the top model like Z06 or ZR1.

I agree. It is likely to only be on the higher-end models. I talked about it in my video but one of the cars that has factory act of arrow that could work very similar to this is the huracan performante. The cost of the performante was about 75k more than the regular huracan and that was one of the major differences. This active aero stuff can get very expensive but if GM does it in a different way maybe it won't be so pricey.

If actuve aero has a cost anywhere near 10 grand...f that...

i actually believe ferraris non active aero is more along the lines of what Id prefer...

underbody aero of say the 458 is cool and makes the top hat sheet metal more attractive.

i dont think if active aero is an option that Id pay for it...I tend to think active aero and even non active aero like big @$$ spoilers is unwarranted for lower performance models ...and gm has gone rogue lately with the pedistal wings.

With all the aero in the C7, it would be a disgrace if the aero advancements were not also present on the C8.

GM has already patented four potential C8 aero systems/components. Couple those with GM having two of the most advanced OEM wind tunnels, and as you noted the C7’s aero advantages, the C8 will be extremely aero friendly.

Absolutely it will. Aero plays a huge role in taking cars now days to the "next level" and active aero is even better. I know GM plays with aero in their top end cars a lot and with advances and a car that is likely to challenge super cars, I'm sure this C8 is going to be packed to the gills with aero.. Likely active aero.
