After doing extensive internet and personal research, four years ago today, Feb. 1, 2015, I called Mike Furman and asked, “would you please take a deposit on the mid engine Corvette?” Mike’s response was, “I sure do not know when or if there is going to be a mid engine Corvette, but I will take a $1,000 deposit.”
When one enters into an pre-ordering purchasing agreement with a dealer, and they say to you that they will consequently place you in a prioritized pre-ordering list, it is critical that you are working with a dealer who has beyond just verbally issued you those words, for the dealer to then insure that they will do what they have promised you. They need two things to accomplish what they are saying, e.g., integrity and allocation!
Background for those new to ordering Corvettes: An order merely placed by a dealer can not become a built Corvette unless that dealer submitted order is literally paired up with a GM granted allocation for that specific model Corvette ordered. This matching of a “dealership submitted ordering request” with GM granting of a specific allocation for that order, occurs during a six day consensus process. Here is an outline of how that process works.

Because of Mike@Criswell’s time and date stamped pre-ordering process, coupled with their huge Corvette allocations, my ME pre-ordering deal was done with Mike exactly 1,461 days ago.

As to when the C8’s reveal will occur, we do not yet know, but the three things that I am personally sure of: I am waiting until the ME is revealed; second, I will order one as soon as I can; and third, with my pre-order being time and date stamped, it will be matched with a GM granted allocation in the exact order it was received originally by Mike.
Four years has passed since I started my C8 purchase process. I wonder how much longer I/we all have to wait until the first one of us has it in our garage?
