I really hope they don't get rid of the buttons and bury all the functions in the menus of the touchscreen. Virginia just passed a law against holding, not just texting on, a cell phone while driving. Dealing with menus on a touch screen while driving in my humble opinion is equally as distracting and dangerous as using a cell phone.

Boy do I agree with that. I think touchscreens in cars are one of the most distracting devices produced and I am surprised we have not had regulations on them. I dislike having to poke the screen in my C7 and having to take my eyes off the road and look at the screen to see if I am pushing the right spot. Plus they get covered with fingerprints. The best setup I have seen is the iDrive in BMWs. The very first iDrives in 2001 and thereabouts were terrible but for the past decade or so Consumer Reports has cited them as being great. My 2019 BMW has a touch screen but I have never had t touch it. The iDrive dial sits on the console right where your hand naturally falls and it controls everything that doesn't need a button (like seat heaters). I really like it but I realize lots of folks like poking touch screens and it seems that is the way things are going. --Bob

I would like to see a more integrated Nav Screen into the Dashboard.

I never liked that iPad sticking out of the Dashboard look.

I just appears to me like an afterthought and a incomplete design.

I don't really notice it unless I am looking into the windshield from in front of the car. What I miss is the cubby behind the screen from the C7. Boy was that a convenient place for the lump in the seat on long trips, also known as my wallet.

Despite some pushback on the switches, they are pretty functional and you can change while feeling the buttons and not have to go into the infotainment system to changes settings. My guess would be that the wall between the driver and passenger would be lowered a bit to open up the passenger side for claustrophobic passengers and leave the buttons in the same layout.

Those that criticize the controls I suspect haven't spent much time in the car.

The controls are incredibly intuitive and I have maybe only once as the driver adjusted the bottom half of the waterfall controls; my driver controls are all well in hand; the lower half is for the passenger.

It fits the design of the car; and it makes sense for the driver.

Do others that have taken delivery feel the same?

It is important for my wife also to be able to control the radio on trips, so my question is can a passenger easily control and view the radio from her seat? It looks difficult to me for her to do so but I have not yet had an opportunity to try it. Personally I have never liked the arrangement of the new cockpit although I see I am in the minority. For us it seems too driver-centric. But I understand the rationale. Maybe I would grow to like it if I get a C8 --Bob

Bob, my wife can control the infotainment system from the passengers seat. It isn't much of a reach and the row of buttons do not block her from reaching over. BEST CAR EVER!!

Why have buttons OR touch screens? They're BOTH old tech. We have the technology for voice command, so your hands stay on the wheel and your eyes stay on the road.

Yes, but not yet able to deal with all of the various voice tones/types/accents/etc. Not yet consistent enough IMO.

I agree. It's getting better all the time, but not ready, yet.

But we're talking about a re-design several years out. Voice commands might be OK by them.

I love it, NOT, when SIRI tells me she doesn't understand and I KNOW I've used that command before. Sheesh, that sounds like my ex.

Yes, passenger can easily control every icon on the center stack, including the radio stations, CD tracks, volume, etc. This is easy for the passenger to do.

This is in addition to the driver having redundant radio controls via the steering wheel. One of the first things I noticed while sitting in the C8’s passenger seat is that for the first time you can see every gauge, dial, number, etc that is directly in front of the driver (can not do that in the C7 for some of them).

EXCEPTION: HUD display is only driver visible (I think in every vehicle).

I have only had to touch the row of CC buttons maybe twice in the 2300 miles I have put on the car. When I picked up the car I pressed the AUTO button and set the temp to 70. Last week I had to adjust the temp setting to 73 . That's it so I don't have a problem with the design. As for the touch screen it is set for split Nav./Radio so all I do is use the up/down volume and station selectors on the SW. Also talk command works pretty good too.

Good to hear. As noted by others, some of the criticisms may be coming from people who have not spent time in the car. That, of course, would be me. I am pleased to hear that one of the (imagined ) potential impediments to a C8 is not so significant. --Bob

While I agree with you, this seems to be the style of the day. Almost all manufacturers are doing this on at least some of their vehicles.

Will be interesting to see what they come up with. I personally like the row of buttons.
The Seat Fan Switch needs a fixed 3 position switch though - as you have to constantly press it to desired setting every time you start the car.

Every car I've owned with more than 2 positions has been this way, though.

The C8 is pretty much the best selling Corvette they could ever imagine. When was the last time they did a refresh for a Corvette again? I honestly doubt GM would invest tons of money for an updated interior while the car sales are going crazy.

I like the way the integrated 2020 Audi A7 looks like, and the 3 works together.

I know it's a lot to ask for in Corvette, but someday maybe soon, the Dashboard will really look like a Cockpit 😂
