Just curious to find out if the Houston dealer I order a 2020 Vett is giving me the runaround on delivery. I placed an order in Nov 2019 with an order number of 51 for deliver in about Nov 2020. I am being told that it probably will not be delivered till Jun 21, the cutoff for 2021 Vett orders. I find it hard to believe that this Houston dealer still has not received his allotment of 2020 Vetts. Would like to know if anyone has order a Vett in 2020 that has taken delivery of their car

Welcome to the forum - Your question is asked by many. There is no way we would ever know. A dealer cannot just order as many vehicles as they wish - they must have allocation. There are many threads for you to read on the home page and possibly you may get a better understanding of how the whole process works. Hopefully your dealer is honest and is telling you the truth. Most have waited a Year and a Half to receive their car.

Why don't you show the list for 2020?

Your dealer needs to tell you how many allocations they received in 2020 and for the November, December, January and February allocations for the 2021 model year. You will then be able to determine where your #51 order may fall in the year. The dealer cannot tell you future allocations as GM is only providing them in 3 month increments. But even with the numbers in hand, there are a lot of variables that could impact the timing of your new arrival. COVID and COVID related supplier issues and weather being the most obvious. So my suggestion (and it is what John (one of the founding members of this forum) told me last year) have an honest conversation with your dealer about how they are determining timing of June. If you don’t get good answers, there are dealers on the above list (top 3) that will give you the straight scoop on timing if you order with them. Good luck and hang in.

Unless you have some personal relationship with that dealer and what to do business with them, if I were you I’d go with one or at this stage, two of the Top three dealers and get yourself a C8.

It’s a different time now, and it’s almost like winning the lottery to get an allocation for a Corvette. You can make friends later, what you want now is a C8.

Vetteowner2005, we are so sorry you have been going through this for such a long time, and so far to no avail. Unfortunately your story is consistent with many who did not go with a MECFforum dealer, got played with and more. And, an even equal factor, as you know all dealers in 2020 got about half the allocations they were originally promised due to first the strike and then Covid,. And Covid is still messing up parts supply chain to this day — slowing down C8 assembly the first three weeks of this month

Unlike quite a few who place deposits with more than one dealer, that is something my wife and I have never done and never will, so it pains me to suggest that if I were you I would a) stay with your current dealer AND b) also get on a forum member’s list(s) too. Never though I would ever suggest that but the C8 remains hotter than hot in terms of way more demand than supply — and it is looking that it will continue to be that way for probably two or three more years.

Interesting as I also ordered my car on Nov. 4th (build sheet and deposit) with the #2 dealer . It went to 3000 status on March 17 , 2020 and I picked it up on Dec. 4 , 2020 and it was a 2020 MY

My 2020 order was cancelled, reordered a 2021 in July 2020. My order went 3000 late Nov 2020.

What does "I placed an order in Nov 2019" mean?

A. Does that mean the you completed a General Motors build sheet and were given a "GM order #" that you were able to confirm with the GM Concierge?
or,
B. Does that mean the you were placed on a dealer's wait list as #51? Waiting to be called to do a build sheet and place an order when a allocation was available. ???

C. Or somewhere in between? Completed a preliminary build sheet but did not get a GM order # confirmation?

If one is #51 on a dealer's wait list and the dealer gets one (1) allocation per year , then it 51 years; but only a month if the dealer get 600 allocations per year.

IMO GM needs to do away with the three words for status 1100 that they now use which are “Preliminary Order Accepted,” and instead come up with some that are more accurately perceived by a person not aware of the intricacies of the GM ordering system. Hope about status 1100 becoming:

“Order Computer Entered But Not Accepted”

Can’t drive it for sometime because of weather however. Went to Mountain Springs Motor Resort this past week for the driving school. What a great experience, I highly recommend it. The facility is first class with plenty of knowledgeable staff and you get to thrash their cars! You might notice my dealer isn’t on the list.

They’re not on the list because - like every other Corvette dealership - their original 2020 MY allocation was significantly reduced. The list shows the ranking for the number of cars the dealership had manufactured/sold in MY 2020. (I’m at the same dealership)
