  • Will there be a 3000 cut off

For a lot of us 2020 buyers we were always nervous about whether we would ever get a car. Getting from 1100 to 3000 was a nail biting experience. Then came the cut off around March 15 , 2020 where we were all told that if you were at 3000 you would be getting a car. We all held our breath and still wondered if it would happen even after the Covid shut down but we were still being told we would. Everyone below 3000 were told they would have to reorder for 2021 cars. So here you 2021 folks are again. The question would be will there be another cut off because of supplier issues or Covid 2 or weather or something else. Will the 2022 Z06 happen or will it affect the regular stingray build cycle. So it's a wait and see and hope. Good luck all.

Interesting. With two shifts, and a strong second allocation cycle, I'd put my money on all of the Feb/Mar/Apr allocation cars being built at a minimum. What will be interesting, IMO, is when GM decides to cut off production of the 2021 model year and roll to 2022. Wishing the best for everyone who dreams of having a C8.

I'm at 1100 still and at 525 on MM's list. I have full faith and confidence I will be getting my 21 in Aug-Sept.
Or at least I hope so.

GM resorted to extending the 2020 production year months later than before, and also to paying triple time in spots to build 2020 status 3000 vehicles. My expectation is that they will again do whatever is necessary to build every car in current allocations, as well as those allocations they just issued for the months of March, April and May. However, I believe that those May ones would be the last of the allocations this 2021 model year.

I would not worry 1/1,000,000 about all those in all those allocation months being built as 2021’s.

Yes, stevec8 and all others in this group and the upcoming three months allocations, have your “full faith and confidence!!!”

No one knows the answer for 2021 production. The hope is that better COVID measures are now in place so the lengthy 2020 COVID shutdown will be avoided, with only sporadic shorter shutdowns such as we've seen to date, likely to occur. The new factor this year is the weather but that should be short-lived with Spring around the corner. Whatever happens and if 2021 encounters sufficient delays so GM resorts to the same "2020 3000 status order cut-off", all those waiting for 2021's should realize they're in good company with those of us who endured the same nail-biting waiting game in 2020 which wasn't just a possibility but a reality, combining the GM strike with COVID. And before anyone slams GM, realize COVID is an unprecedented situation that GM and everyone else is dealing with and GM is no doubt trying its best to move through it and retain both customers and its profit.

I fully feel 100% that GM and the UAW did everything to 1) to protect the workers to their fullest ability and 2) to do whatever they humanly could to make sure as many people as possible got their 2020 cars. The strike aside, everything else was really out of everyone's control related to the assembly process.

We've not had a covid related shut down in a long time, and aside from almost a week of weather related delays, the 2 week shutdown just happened to be around that time. Good news, is that those extra days bought them some time for the vendors to keep going ( provided they were able to stay open ) and stock up.

We see the light at the other end getting brighter each day.... and we pray it's the end of the tunnel and not a Viper ...lol

FWIW, and I’m certainly no authority but, as hard & heavy as GM has been attempting to produce these C8’s amidst Covid, winter weather, parts supplies issues, & production shutdowns, etc., while I highly doubt they’ll hit anywhere near 40,000 produced in MY21, there’s NO DOUBT in my mind that at the very least, they’ll get the orders completed & produced up to May 2021.

The June 17, 2021 orders, on the other hand, may be nail biters & possibly a gamble. If there are currently any forum members today, who are not Corvette owners yet, but want to be, and they can afford it, but are simply on the fence about making that purchase; if an early model C8 is what you’re hoping for, I’d strongly suggest plunking you’re deposit down at any top MECF sponsored Corvette dealer soon. You may already be too late for a MY21 C8 at most Dealers. But, it’s worth a shot if it’s what you really want as long as you can afford to do so. 😏😳🤨💁

I may be wrong but I think there are more then 40,000 orders already on the dealer books. It's all in the allocations now and if GM doesn't see being able to make them all they either need to extend the build year or release only those numbers that they can complete. The June 17 date is the last day they will most likely take the 3000 status orders to build. Those less then 3000 status will need to go into 2022 just like those did from 2020. I believe that anyone putting in an order today is looking at a 2022 car. I remember my 1st dealer I talked to had order capability for 19 cars and when I talked to them they didn't have allocations as of that time from GM. They took orders for 50 cars assuming there would be drop outs. when the smoke cleared they only got allocations for 10 cars for the year. Some of the 40 dropped out while some kept the deposit in for 2021 cars.

If the orders have been allocated that’s one thing but having consistent production shift, after shift, day after day, week after week and month after month, is something entirely different. This MY year doesn’t seem to be much different than last year and they made what just shy of 22,000 last year. I really think that GM will be lucky if they break 27,000 produced this year. Hopefully, I’m wrong. I’m one of their biggest cheerleaders and am rooting for a banner year from them for production, thus far though, reality and the numbers which have already been produced, dictate otherwise. Which is why I suggested to put a deposit down soon, while it may already be too late for a 21 C8, they’ll be at the front of the line for a 22 C8, maybe even an Eray or Z6.
