That stinks - time for some rodent deportation. At least the squirrel was practicing good hygiene.

Let's hope this puts to rest some of the fragility concerns re your C8.

It's a car. Not just any car, it's a new car with a new battery.

As such it can sit for weeks and start right up. Plugging it in is not required every night. It's not a baby kitten so stop treating it as such.

I can add real world color to the story since I recently had surgery and had to let mine sit for 2 weeks.

      Started right up.

Just like a new car should.

I had the same thing happen to a motorcycle. mice got in and chewed on the wires. Now the bike resides in a car bubble safe and sound.

Nope...its 30%. To the OP, like HTC crazy said, if your battery was reading 11.8 volts then you've got a battery issue. It either needs to have a proper charger attached to get it back up to full charge or get the battery replaced.

Oh no! I'm glad you have an answer and glad we're not talking about some systemic manufacturing issue or something, but that really stinks and I'm sorry for your luck. Hopefully they can get it fixed up quickly and properly for you!

I had a rodent do that on a car many years ago. Chewed up wires controlling the fuel injectors.

Good news its not the car, but it sucks this is going to cost you out of pocket.

Wow. I used to go fishing once a summer with a buddy that had a place in northern Michigan. Of all crazy things, porcupines were a problem. Over the years, several cars parked at the “cabin” (it was quite spartan) had their wiring damaged. Glad you got it figured out.

Had mice in my C5 heater blower years ago. Skeptical but bought a couple of "electronic" noise emitters for garage. Haven't had the problem since.

I have a noise emitter that will be used on the squirrels.

I leave a rat trap with an attached whole peanut under the car in the garage. Mouse squirrel rat whatever. There is no escape and the peanut can be reused. Light touch and snap. Game over but the dogs still want in.

I'm surprised as I never heard of a squirrel eating wires . It usually is mice that do the damage. Also was this car parked outside or in a garage. If inside then I surmise you are getting someone to find and fix the entry point. If it happened once , well it will happen again. Also where was the area in the car where this happened.

A while back our XTSvsport all of a sudden had all kinda crazy electrical malfunctions. Turned out a squirrel chewed a wire to one of the front headlights. Amazing all the seemingly unrelated issues that caused.
