  • ME Motor Info According to “farmington”

I hope he is correct; he speaks IMO as if he knows, has facts, so here are his internet posts. I am “listening.”

Haven’t seen the twin turbo version but believe it will be a Hot V, with the turbos in the V.

(And a different post of his) Saw another engine dressed for the C8 the other day. It was an LT2 which is an upgraded LT1 that will be making 490-500 hp. Upgrades are mainly camshaft. Also hearing about an LT8 that sounds like the bad boy twin turbo DOHC version. Heard upwards of 900 hp on the dynos.
So question Mr. farmington, please do you work at Cosworth? We know that the Blackwing CT6-Sport, 4.2L twin turbo V8, 550 HP/627 TQ motors have Cosworth heads and maybe more.

Im sure its great yet i personally prefer the opportunity to get a LT1 derived lt2 500 hp ohv engine.

the simplicity, the small size, the low weight and strong hp and tq not to mention low cost and durability are the qualities i enjoy.

im the lt6 will be a fantastic engine as well and for thise that opt for it they will be quite pleased with their decision.

    thanks for the heads up....

we will have to see all the details of these two engines.

Sounds like serious. Within months after the first release, the tuners will feed steroids to the LT2, for those curious about the effect of more thrust on the ME package. The stock Five hundred 500 HP will yield to 600-700.

Now will a prophet please deliver the curb weight. Should be lightish with the LT2. If it is 3200 lbs and 500 HP then the performance should be close to the 911 Turbo S 580HP/3600lbs. ---- 80 more HP and 400 extra Lbs. LT2 3200 lbs is optimistic speculation.

There were photos and video of a C8 mule(s) being street tested against 911 Turbo S(s). Since the iformation is 500 HP at this time then we may ultimately hear 525.

Lingenfelter Performance Engineering would be one place to do such a major LT2 performance upgrade. Interesting that “farmington” labeled the entry ME’s motor as an LT2. While many of us have used that engine option code as a “maybe,” sometimes even referring to it as a LT1+, he seems to be stating it unequivocally will be called an LT2.

An LT-6 DHOC naturally aspirated version could be a fit for an updated C8 Z06 type engine. The formulation sounds like similar to the C5 / C6 Z06 engine. Naturally aspirated, increased power out put and probably higher revving. Turbo charging seems to require reduced RPM. The DHOC LT8 said by Mr. Farmington, quoted above, to be twin turbo.

I would be pleased with the LT2 as Farmington has described it. Maybe I would want more power a year later, and by then there would be plenty of safe options. John mentioned Lingenfelter. I would add Callaway for consideration for they allow your vehicleto come to their shop for their enhancements even if it is not new.

Farmington said "dual" throttle bodies. Does dual mean a separate throttle body for each bank of 4 cylinders. I thought the stock LT 1 already had a individual throttle body for each of the 8 cylinders. Guess not.

And Tubular headers? Had read earlier that the exhaust manifold and headers would be combined unit. So much information out.

The LT1 has eight coils, one for each cyclinder though only one throttle body. farmington was describing two motors, the first year LT2 and separately the “Z06 version” motor, the latter having two throttle bodies.

If The Caddy with the Blackwing will cost $90K. How will that translate for the cost of the C8?

All we know is that Bob Lutz said that comparing version for version, the C8’s version will cost a “little more” than the C7’s.

I sure have been wrong many times before, but something about the way farmington wrote those words, has me believing him.

90K for the DHOC LT6 would be about equal to the Z06 cost. That engine in the caddy is 550 HP/650 torque. In a C8 it could be reverse adjusted to 650 HP/550Torque. And be a good fit for the Tremor's 650 torque capacity.

But it just good information. 500 HP in a Lt 1 or 2 would be a lot of push in a "light" mid engine car.

He also said the following about the LT-6:

"Wanted to take some pics but too many people around. I believe they are using a flat crank like the Coyote Ford."

"We fabbed the cranks in addition to machining blocks and heads."
