Not that I'm aware of. It could be anything. How did you option out your car? That could be a telltale in itself.

The hold could be random, or due to a part, or option... who knows. I don't think they usually hold longer than 2 weeks, but others on here might have more insight than I do on this.

You're at the home stretch at least. Many other on here have been on years long journeys. We're going on 7 month from deposit and it feels like forever once the order was accepted.

I gather we have no way of ascertaining the reason for the hold? Oh well....what's another two weeks after waiting 14 months!! I feel like a 5-yr old on Xmas eve!!!!

Welcome! After the car is produced and goes from 3400 to event 3800 - it goes through a series of quality checks at the factory. I'm linking a nice explainer below. Once all is well, they will release the car to 4000 event status and it will be on its long (or short) journey to you. This could be longer if being shipped by rail (to the west coast for example.)

"Remember at this point we are still at a 3800. All the dealer knows is that the car has been built. All these processes that are going on we don’t change the status of the car from what the dealer can see.”

The next process is ‘Batch and Hold’ consisting of 57 individual checks. “This is a process that will eventually go away. The operator is taking a look to make sure buttons work, cycling things, open and close doors, looking at how the frunk closes, making sure we have good flushness, walking around the car and checking for functionality and appearance items. Some people may wonder why you’d put your hands on the car like that but it’s amazing what your fingers can pickup and many times you’ll see our operators use the back of their hand to pickup any discrepancies between two panels.”

“Once we get to the point we don’t have issues we start eliminating these one by one because we’ve proven they aren’t an issue and we simply audit them. Some people say trust then verify. You go verify and when you verify enough then you can start trusting. That’s how manufacturing is.”

Adding all the checks up it is more than 8,500 checks."

Hi. This is my first post ever. My car was born last week, but am hearing there is some sort of a quality hold. Has anyone heard any birdies regarding when I could expect it to be loaded on a truck?

Welcome to the forum.
Your dealer will tell you if there is a hold. If it is ready to ship it will be at status 4000. If it is on hold it will be at 4B00. Holds can be as long as 2 months, but that is rare. If there is an issue found during the hundreds of tests it will be held and you will never know what the issue was.
If you are at 4000 then the shipper has 10 business days to pick up your car.
My friends car was built last Thursday and left BG today.

Looks like the numbers are back up again given the MacMulkin order status changes, one VIN# 4286 was completed yesterday, mine should be TODAY if all goes well.

Every time I read some gloom and doom here and elsewhere about parts shortages and all, I remember back to my beginning days, when I flew On Call Air Charter flights to cover break downs in Auto Production plants. I use to think why the heck would someone pay 10's of 1000's of $ for a couple of small boxes of whatever, when they could FedEx it overnight and have it there tomorrow. Someone then explained it to me the amount of money it cost these Auto Makers to have a factory stopped because of a machine breaking, or a handful of parts needed. So, I know that Chevy production knows weeks in advance when they will get there parts for production, but they don't know, nor can they plan for a breakdown on the assembly line of an obscure event. The TPW's are based on KNOWN events, and an occasional hiccup is just that, a Hiccup.

Congratulations on the Newly built C8. You are going to be amazed like the rest of us when you finally get it.
