Just thought of another question for you John,
Could the RHD cars have a unique vin? (Separate from the normal vins. I.E M52xxxxx)

Interesting that Keith Cornett (CorvetteBlogger) and I were discussing that very question on the phone yesterday. I believe there could be a “check Digit” within the VIN itself (have not had time to look at that), but both of our opinions were there would not be a separate series of VINs for RHD’s. We will learn this latter (in fact reached out now to a GM team member to see what we can determine).

I would volunteer to try and get re-employed as an assembly line worker , and give hourly 15 second snippet reports.

Someday, I would love to know what design decisions were made to make the RHD vehicles. There are some symmetrical buttons and controls. The HVAC "flying buttress" is straight, but everything around needs to get swapped. Steering wheel and rack, swap? Brake and gas. I wonder if they left the steering rack, brake module, front lift, washer fluid all in the same place and just plumed it differently ... hmmm can't do that with the steering ... is there a thread on this? Maybe they left the 3 buttons (ESC,LIft,camera) the same?

Success! After 526 days from my original order, my car is being born today. Through communication with my dealer, the Concierge, and the Museum (I bought the photo album) I was fortunate to be informed that my car is on the line now. It was a coincidence that all of this is happening as I was emailing trying to get a current status. There was no protocol setup to inform me. I was just lucky to ask as it is being built.

This is a weird feeling. I can now release some feelings of anticipation and get rid of feelings of frustration. I may be able to live a normal life except for one key difference. I will have a C8 in my garage. I don't even know how that will feel.

Not yet. I text messaged my dealer with the news and they say it has not shown up yet. They are getting back to me with the VIN when it does. Apparently, the dealer is the only one who gives out VINs. The Concierge does not for a policy reason. They say that people have misused this info in past.

Heard back from GM, from a top member of the Corvette team confirming our earlier thoughts that RHD’s have VIN’s within the regular sequence. So if BGA had made 10 RHD’s the last few days, and since VIN # 2099 was the last one C8 assembled yesterday, those ten RHD’s (or whatever number RHD’s were made earlier this week) have VIN’s that are less than 2099.

Your dealer doesn't know how to get it at 3400. It shows on your main page at 3800, but at 3400 these are the instructions.

The dealership can see the vin when one is assigned at status code 3400 and above.

VIN 2178. Based on Thursday’s last VIN of 2099 and an expected last VIN of 186 + 2099 or 2285, it looks like my car will finish today. Murray, thank you for the info.

Back to 187 units produced yesterday. If it was a three day integration and training for th Elaine to learn and produce right hand drive units, that process seems to have ended and back full stream ahead.

OR, since they were starting out with 300 RHD units for Japan, and with the integration/training slower initial process, did they finish all 300 of them and are now back to LHD production full time?

You may not need chirping birdies - just a parking lot spy. Am I correct that unlike LHD cars, the RHD cars won't have the wrap on the right side window when they are parked in the lot?

You are, so the transport driver can get into it and move it onto/off of their vehicles. Same with later on in those cars’ travels.
