I’ve been “in transit” since last Thursday. My dealer is outside of Buffalo, NY. Do they ship these things snail mail?!

Yes, they harness 1,000 snails in a specially created transporter and put one new C8 on the top of this flat-top transporter. Seriously six days is a short amount of time on average. Most of us have experienced around three weeks — some of us six weeks during transport status.
When GM officially releases a vehicle to Jack Cooper Transport, it goes into transit status. JCT has up to 10 days to move that vehicle off the plant grounds and to start its journey to the intended end location. Along the way that transporter which starts with ten cars, could drop off one at this dealer, two at the next one etc. And the last time someone ranted, he got a call the next day from his dealer saying, “it’s here.”

I'm in the Nigara region, just across the river. For this region GM maintain a staging yard, where Corvettes are dropped off to mingle with other GM vehicles. Then a second carrier assembles mixed loads to go to area dealers.Originally posted by Muggy View Post

Wow! 5 weeks!!!!??? Nuts... I almost wish I hadn’t been checking status every 2 weeks since March now. Knowing that it’s “in transit”, pretty much the final status, and seeing every potential driving day pass before winter is just painful. I’ll remain hopeful and excited, I guess... Okay, here’s the skinny.. went 4000 and ready to ship on the 27th. My dealer called today and it’s sitting in Bowling Green inventory lot waiting on a truck to ship it. So, “in transit” doesn’t literally mean in transit. Back to my “Hurry up and wait” status. 🙄😂. Can’t wait though... I’ve been driving piece of garbage company cars for 20 years and haven’t owned my own vehicle since last driving a Hyundai Accent 20 years ago. First sports car, let alone REAL CAR, ever!!!

In transit means that GM has released it to Jack Cooper Transit. With their having 10 days to get it to start its journey (must leave the BGA lots no later than day 10 except when a new model mass hold has been in place such as with 2,000 being released to be shipped more or less at once).
Sorry that yours is not yet on its way. I just checked with the Corvette Concierge on mine. It was built on the October 28th and they still show it in QC.
I am also in the Buffalo area and would love to have it while we are experiencing this great warm weather.
Thankfully I still have my '75 yellow convertible out to enjoy.
