  • REPORT FROM CORVETTE BLVD at the MUSEUM (10-20-20)

Just got back from the Museum after 'visiting' our HTC before they closed for the day. We're on Web Cam 6 with delivery around 8 AM local time.

Earlier today all 7 cars on the floor were convertibles. Tonight all but 1 of the 8 are convertibles. That should explain the low numbers coming out of the factory the last few weeks. They were catching up on the backlog of HTC's from the January and February allocation periods. 4 of the HTC are Torch Red but each is unique.... all red, red with black nacelles, red with black roof and nacelles, and ours which is red with black roof and nacelles and all red exterior trim. Pretty much something for everyone that's really into bright red!

The wait is now being measured in 'hours'....

    Pictures to follow.....
2020 HTC Torch Red with lots of goodies. Built in September. Museum Delivery October......

Other toys in the garage: Ferrari California, BMW i8 Roadster, Bentley Flying Spur

ID:	200510 Trust me....I’m really smiling. Note that I look a lot better with a mask on! I can’t wait for the drive back to Texas after tomorrow morning’s delivery and the track experience (in one of their C8’s). After that I can start boring everyone with my ownership experiences. Just seeing the car and touching it (yeah I know.... fingerprints and all....) the wait was worth it,

I'm too old to race too. But I still like going fast when I can. (Like when there's nobody in front of me) Actually I like just being behind the wheel of my C8, fast or not, it's just FUN! The best is yet to come for you my friend.

ATEUPJOE.... I started a lunch group about 10 years ago.... mostly retired guys but a few with jobs (if you can call being a pilot a real job). We get together on the EAST side of Tarrant County every other Tuesday.... Not a club, no group name, no dues, no rules.... just a bunch of guys that own at least 1 Corvette. Some could write technical books about 'em and others have trouble changing the radio station. If you're interested PM me and I'll put you on the email distribution. Before the virus we typically had 40 or so guys (out of 150 on the distribution) at lunch. Now we are down to 15 to 25 but we still have a good time....

Got the car home Thursday evening. 800 miles of smiles! 28 MPG was the average on the trip. My wife drove it around Bowling Green after we left the Museum with the top down and found it very comfortable. I'm pretty sure the Ferrari will continue to be her 'ride' of choice though. The 'track experience' was very enjoyable. I've always found that it's a lot more fun to smoke someone else's tires than my own.

I drove the car home. My wife's only issue was the seat belt (3LT with red belts) came across her and rubbed her neck no matter how she adjusted the passenger seat. Her 'fix' was she said from now on when we go someplace in the Corvette she would drive! She did comment that there was really no room for misc 'road trip' stuff inside the cabin.... but that's been true of all of our ME cars.

Overall.... it's certainly the best Corvette ever (we've had a bunch) AND it was certainly worth the wait!
