Just saw a Rick Conti vlog. Still saying Detroit and New York are possible but also talked up the Museum as a good possibility.

I'd be surprised by a museum reveal. The big shows get so much press coverage, and thereby so much free publicity, I can't see GM passing that up.

His thought was that if they announce it’s there then everyone will be there. Also have the factory and track there and Zora’s ashes

That is true, but already GM sends its top Corvette team members to the BASH (no additional cost), and that 2020 ME reveal is for a vehicle that has been described by many top automedia as the one of the most important vehicle reveals of this ten year period.

Add to that if GM announced even ten days in advance that it would be revealed at the BNASH, every single automedia will send one or more reps to the BASH. Lastly, the BASH is a location totally controlled by GM. There they would not be completing with a reveal of another new model of another brand literally 50’ away, and then 40 more competitor reveals within that same convention center all during that two day press period.

If the BASH, GM would own the event. They would have all the media they ever wanted, and all their undivided attention.

That is good thinking. Lots of truth about the world media coming down to BG for the Bash for just the C8. If so, the event would probably have instead of the usual 1,500 Corvette lovers in attendance, probably three times that would be there including all the world’s media.

However what would be missing at the Bash would be the over 1,100,000 annual attendees that go to the New York Auto Show. At the BASH, GM would be preaching to the choir, whereas at the NY show, GM would be getting a chance for over 1,100,000, with 95% of them not being current Corvette owners, to see the car up close.

Thus at least 1,000,000 in New York would be POTENTIAL BRAND CONQUESTS. If not Detroit for NAIAS, my thought remains the New York Auto Show.

The most reasonable reveal location is the NYAS for the reasons MidEngine posted above. It is highly unlikely that GM will ever reveal a new Corvette product at the NCM.

Everyone - meaning Corvette fans and the automotive press. The museum isn't going to get the same kind of coverage from the mainstream media that the big car shows do.

I think even mainstream media would be there, but as noted above, what about non-current Corvette owners, e.g., the future brand conquest owners —those for whom the 2020 ME would be their first Corvette. They would be missing, and the opportunity to reveal at NYAS two weeks before the BASH and have the +1,000,000 of those folks there, can not IMO be ignored.

NY is it unfortunately it makes sense. They can keep building the C7 through March then announce the ME, I rather it be sooner. Detroit is in their backyard hope I am wrong.

While Detroit is looking less and less likely, It could well be NYC. There is absolutely no way it would be in Bowling Green. No one other than the Corvette enthusiasts have any idea where BG is, or how to get there! Can you imagine the Europe and Asia Pacific based media types trying to figure out how to get there.... or even where to stay once they find it on a map!!!

My real fear is that GM, based on their ultimate wisdom, will chose Europe so they can make a splash in the back yard of Ferrari, Macleran, Lambo, Audi and Porsche. It likely would also serve as a good venue to declare their intent to go after the Europeans, on their turf.... Remember, their target market is NOT us loyal senior citizens that have supported 'em for over 60 years.
2020 HTC Torch Red with lots of goodies. Built in September. Museum Delivered in October......

Good points. GM’s target is the 30-50 year old, upper middle class/lower upper class person who lives in NYC and its suburbs, e.g., those who will be absolutely wowed by the combination of its looks and its price of 1/3 or less of a Ferarri’s, yet a car they would happily drive to their friend’s or their boss’s annual bar-b-que.

I am betting NYAS. And if there, I will be able to find my way from the sticks of the Pacific Northwest to the Jacob Javitz Convention Center.
