As of 1:32am, I am 100% correct in the poll. (I am the only one that has voted so far). If they do reveal it in Detroit, I will be there. If it is at a later date and other location, I'll probably miss the reveal. Detroit is only about 200 miles from me.

IF I did know it will be in Detroit I know I'd be taking a 4 hour drive to see it ! Only a few miles from where I picked my Corvette in 2015.

For the C6 and C7 we never saw this much of the mule prior to release as we have seen for the C8. Other then headlights, tails, and scoop, we have seen a lot. There is no need for more teasers shots. Not sure what difference January(Detroit) or April (New York) will make. If the car has a significant issue they have 12 months to sort it out.

Thanks zishan. The key word to me in your post is “IF”, for despite less than a handful out of how many hundreds or thousands stating that there are ME development problems, that is not what I have heard.

Instead, positively, I am hearing that the development process continues on track.

im expecting a detroit reveal. I haven't heard a reasonable reason for them not to, unless they will NOT be shipping it at the end of summer.

This was just posted on the R&T Internet Newsletter. Although only a "potential' C8 Key Fob, this is the first of anything that might be considered a "tease" in quite some time. Things have been way too quiet! I know those of you who went to, or are planning to go to, the LA show are disappointed but with all of GM's latest bad press, I feel more confident than ever that it will be revealed at the 2019 NAIAS in January. That show is hurting bad enough and to have GM/Chevrolet to do the reveal at any other location than Detroit would be a real slap in the face! I'll be there, regardless!

GM is joining the modern world, inviting top media to last November’s ZR1 convertible reveal knowing that they would have it on YouTube within minutes. Wherever it is revealed, they will do at least that, and I am thinking themselves broadcasting it live — so whether we are physically there or not at the private reveal, I believe we will all see it at the same time.

However, to actually walk around the car ourselves, will be a special BASH treat! I can’t wait to be there.

Interesting reveal news that the HD Silverado is going to be revealed at the Chicago Auto Show. IMO, this means we will learn nothing about the 2020 Corvette at that Feb 9th-19th show other than this (not that any of us thought Chicago was going to be the place where the ME itself was going to be revealed, but had hoped for maybe the ME’s motor to be revealed there. Again just my opinion, nothing related to any realm of the ME going to be presented in Chicago.

However, in reverse, could this mean that since there is a growing sentiment that the ME is not ready for an early 2019 reveal (except JBsC6 and a few others), could at least we hear a NAIAS announcment of a spring reveal somewhere, or maybe an annnouncment and the showing of the ME’s emblem there?

Or none of this related in any way to the Chicago Auto Show Silverado reveal, and I am grasping at straws? Sure could be that. So, FWIW...

                      2018-12-04

DETROIT — When the 2020 Silverado HD debuts in February 2019 it will be the most capable and most advanced Silverado HD ever. It will also be the third all-new Silverado model from Chevrolet in just 18 months — each designed for different customers.

“We know the needs and priorities of heavy-duty customers are different than those of either light-duty or medium-duty customers,” said Jaclyn McQuaid, chief engineer, Silverado HD. “As such, we built a heavy-duty truck tailor-made for them that has more differentiation than ever before from light-duty models, offers advanced towing technologies to improve towing confidence and includes new features such as the integrated Bedstep, which makes it easier to access the bed while pulling a fifth-wheel trailer.”

Built at the Flint Assembly plant in Flint, Mich., the new Silverado HD’s design has a bold, sculpted form that follows its enhanced heavy-duty function, differentiating it from the light-duty Silverado. In fact, the 2020 Silverado HD exterior shares only the roof with its Silverado 1500 stablemate — every other piece of sheet metal is exclusive to Silverado HD.

“We set out to make a statement with the 2020 Silverado HD and wanted to visually capture the power and capability of the truck,” said Brian Izard, lead exterior designer for Silverado HD. “The result is a truck that looks like a piece of heavy machinery with modern, chiseled finishes and customer-focused details.”

The interior benefits from similar architectural changes made to the all-new Silverado 1500, including an additional 3 inches of legroom on crew cab models and a taller, more comfortable seating position.

Under the 2020 Silverado HD’s hood is a choice of two new powertrains: an all-new gasoline engine with direct injection mated to a six-speed transmission, or the Duramax Turbo-Diesel V-8, which delivers 910 lb-ft of torque through an all-new, Allison 10-speed transmission.

The 2020 Silverado HD also will offer all-new customer-focused trailering technology, significant increases in towing and payload capabilities and a host of technologies and features designed specifically for heavy-duty truck customers.

GM’s focus on understanding truck customers has helped build the most successful truck franchise in the industry over the last four years. Since introducing the industry’s first three-truck strategy with midsize, full-size light-duty and full-size heavy-duty trucks in 2014, GM has been the best-selling truck manufacturer for four consecutive years. The company has sold more than 600,000 pickups than the closest manufacturer from 2014 through the first three quarters of 2018.

That momentum is expected to continue with the launches of the new Colorado ZR2 Bison, all-new Silverado 1500, the all-new Silverado Medium-Duty trucks and now the all-new Silverado HD models.

The 2020 Silverado HD goes on sale in mid-2019, stay tuned for more details about the all-new 2020 Silverado HD.

I can usually get into NAIAS on the press/preview days. I went last year with a 1% expectation of seeing the C8, and took a bunch of ZR1 photos for the other forum. This year I'm 90% optimistic that there will be a C8 reveal, likely at a dedicated event after hours with invited press (not me unfortunately).

Im the eternal optimist....hoping the car shows at detroit in 30 odd days...

i did hear John mention there is presently over 20k units of unsold c7 inventory so maybe you guys are right...the c8 will release much later in the year..(boohiss)

last year gm sold 22400 units...and this year we running a little over 17k units to the end of november.

20k units in inventory..plus next years production...it could be a long wait for the c8...

unless gm offers fire sale pricing on the c7...

right now most pricing is not as discounted as the 2017 model year was out...

im guessing next january fire sale pricing as next years dealer sales usually set c8 allocation numbers..

One would have to think that GM is savvy enough about the auto industry to not saddle itself with a bunch of under performing inventory unless it, with it's insider knowledge, knew that the demand was going to spike when the Mid Engine vehicle arrived. Perhaps this is one reason that we can assume the price of a Mid Engine Corvette will be higher then expected as it would surely generate renewed interest in buying a lesser priced front engine model.

Well with the discussed 20k units of unsold front engine corvettes there certainly is no need to build both a front and rear mid engine corvette after next year...
