  • ME Contrasting Scoop Edge Trim

Audi offered a contrasting scope edge trim in their R8 (though it was called a “blade” by most); IMO it looks so good on that car. [Picture thanks and credit to “Wired.]

Here are a few side renderings by three different, highly skilled artists (Chazcron, FVS and bdsvavars). We are not comparing their work, only comparing whether your prefer the leading edge of the scoop to be body colored or contrasting colored?

Thank you for your opinions, for based on what GM heard repeatedly during the early part of the C7 gen, and then listened to nicely, some Corvette owners greatly preferred contrasting trim, yet others prefer uniformity of color.

Consequenlty, it is my belief that for the ME’s side scoop, we will have a choice of body colored, carbon flash black painted, and visible carbon fiber for the front edge of the scoop trim.

What say you please for your ME?

I love that our C7 has contrasting carbon flash black metallic trim everywhere, a custom contrasting hood stripe also in black metallic, but for my ME, I am preferring the scoop trim piece would be body colored.
Looking forward to our ME arriving, hopefully late next summer.

Definitely would have to be body color for me ...
      A thought if I might :-)

Definitely body colored for me as well..

        smooth seamless look is oreferred.

the audi r8 needed the different colored blade as the proportions of that original car as cool as the vehicle was were off.

the elongated section utilized the different color blade to visually shift the somewhat offputting dimensions as well as differentiate itself from its italian stablemate the gallardo.

ill pass on colored side vents on the c8.

I prefer body color, but the chazcron scoop treatment is ok in the above render even though it is black or carbon fiber.

Personally believe there will be lots of choices for all. I am with Buzz on this one, less contrast on the ME, the better — at least what I have so far seen.

Going to guess that at the reveal there will again be two cars, one with a contrasting color scoop trim edge and one body colored, for that was the differential presentation pattern GM did at the C7’s reveal, e.g., the two cars were so different in many ways.

Don't like the black leading edge on the scoop at all. Once we see the real thing, maybe I'll feel differently, but not based on the renders. Not sure why it needs an extra piece of plastic there at all.

That front edge, as you know, will get sandblasted by dirt, bugs and grit, regrettably maybe by a small rock. Here is a “trick” taught to me by Fasttoys (who was one of the first to get a 2015 Z06.

Going to have to look very closely at this picture to find it.

For those who have not yet seen it, think glossy black electrical tape — which I remove about every few months to protect that edge, in fact travel
with a roll of it, a pair of scissors and happily put it on other GS/Z06’s whose owners were unable of “the Fasttoys mod.”

Wonder if GM, as they have done by putting some clear bra on the rear fender just in front of the rear wheels of every C7, might not put clear bra onto the front edge of the scoop edge as a factory install?

Body colored for sure. Also, the blue car on the website banner is the best drawing (and most accurate) so far, IMO. Taking nothing away from the other artists

Some type of Edge Trim is needed. Clear or otherwise. There will be a huge amount of air forcing through there and it is bound to take a toll if left unprotected. Also I feel that edge will be prone to door dings from other vehicles as well. Would be nice if the trim is able to be replaced easily if needed. We all know how exposed painted edges chip and ding.
