  • 70th Anniversary Zora

Who else would think that the rumored 1000hp Zora, would make a very exciting 70th anniversary model ? I will be standing in line to see if this happens. Your thoughts-- Anyone ?

  • #2
Good question. That would make it a 2023. If the rumored 1,0000 HP, AWD happens, would GM wait until year four of the ME to introduce it?

As much as I'd really like for that to happen, if we look back on Corvette history, all the Corvette group has offered us is a special paint scheme..... sometimes with some very minor tweaks like the Z06 engine in the 2013 C6 'vert' to celebrate the end of that generation AND the brand's 60th anniversary.

Then again, like I always say, just because that's how it was done in the past doesn't mean that they will continue to do it that way in the future....

Since you brought up the 1000 HP AWD hybrid..... maybe Mary Bera will light a fire under the group and push 'em to bring something 'spectacular' to market sooner????
2020 HTC Torch Red with lots of goodies. Built in September. Museum Delivered in October......

I have heard so many different inside info facts, that I am wondering whether with the theft of the two fascia pictures from inside the Plant, then the 10 CAD drawings getting out, and lastly the accuracy of many renderings by fvs, GM is now into a deliberate dis-information campaign. As some examples, I have heard the ME’s Z06 version was not happening until year three, and then literally three days later, “it is coming out in year two.” Then a week or two after that (from a source that told me that the C7 Z06’s top was removable over 18 months before it was revealed), I was told it is not coming out until year three.

I think the fascia, CAD leaks and accuracy of renderings has gotten GM to internally say, “they have gotten too close, what can be do to throw them off? Let’s start by deliberately leaking conflicting info.”

I was personally more sure of ME “facts” two months ago than I am now.

Emperor, ZERV, Zora, and what else is its internal, at least at the watercooler nicknames are that we (hopefully) will later learn about.

Remember when the C6 ZR1 was internally named “Blue Devil,” when GM’s Chair Rick Wagner was a Duke Blue Devil alumni.

Wonder what its real name will be when revealed, e.g. the C8? O r will it not have a moniker like the C7 “Stingray.” Or be the “Manta Ray” or the “Shark?”

For those of us who have around for many decades, waiting for the the mid engine Corvette all that time, perhaps we will always call it “the mid engine.”

And might that be why that was/is the name chosen by this forum’s three owners LOL.

Car companies keep their fan base guessing, but about different things and not every company about the same thing. What does Corvette keep its fans guessing about? What about Ferrarri? Porsche? Mclaren? What does the choice of focus to the guessing game say about the car company's ultimate products?

                  Guessing about styling?
                  guessing about performance?
                  New tech?
                  Various specific nuasance?
What depth of detail and refinement as to aspects?

Do some companies reveal styling details early, earlier? Do they have other big stuff to keep fans guessing about?

I wish Corvette would reveal styling and the big picture stuff and hide deep character aspects that are the true heart of the product.

What GM does, is very similar to other brands. I think we are going to get some good news within the next month. (No inside info, just basing this on GM’s past program/timing for the C7 pre-reveal process.)
