  • Ed Welburn's last design may provide insights into new Corvette interior

Ed Welburn's last major work as head of GM Global Design was the 2016 Buick Avista concept car. (It was another beauty - GM should put it in production !) Here are two screenshots of the concept cockpit - one in Kalahari / Black, and one in gray. There are some striking similarities between Zerv02's sketch and this interior. Consider the shape of the steering wheels. In fact, if you consider the current C7 dashboard and "grab bar" physical architecture, and combine that with the steering wheel and the panoramic displays of the Avista, you get something similar to what Zerv02 has sketched. Take a look and see what you think.

The photos didn't upload. At least all I see are some broken image indicators.

BEAUTIFUL! If I might, “elegant.” Binger, I think you might have hit on something in terms of the center IP screen seeming to be an extension of the driver’s one — which is what Zerv02 suggested in his sketch.

Here is a somewhat confirming picture from the Cadillac Escala concept car:

If only the Camaro looked like the Avista with maybe a little more aggressiveness (but not too much), then it would pwn the 'Stang. If it came in an AWD variant then it would be the ultimate all-season performance car and snow belt sales would be stratospheric. Well, they would at least in a world according to me, lol.

I really like the color of that Buick Avista concept car - GM called it "Super Blue". I hope I can buy a Corvette in that color someday.

I too would happily check off the Super Blue option box if it were offered.

Yep. Time for fvs to update his interior rendering to take these into account!

It looks similar to Cadillac's Dark Adriatic Blue which is pretty amazing in person.

I love Super Blue also; would gladly choose it if it were offered. The dash looks, at least to me, like it would best fit in a Cadillac or a Buick, e.g., not feeling it for the C8.
Enjoying my Shadow gray C8. What a car it is.
