  • Get SO’s C8 Purchase Support

I know some are looking for ways to get their significant other on board for buying a 2020+ mid engine. Let’s list some clever ways to increase the odds for our fellow MECF members succeeding in that conversation.

Suggestion # 1 for your conversation with your SO as to why you need a 2020 ME with its probably-standard, no cost flame throwers:

It is a safety option, e.g., keeps tailgaters way back.

My SO has been suggesting i get a new jaguar f type convertible as something new. I offered to buy her one amd told her I prefer corvettes to jaguars. I test drove the f type amd just found it to be a really sexy sheet metal 2seater on a sport sedan chassis.

pretty car...but just not the driving experience i enjoy as much as a corvette.

i also just got her a beautiful bright red alfa romeo stelvio ti sport for her birthday amd she loves it.

when i met her she had a beautiful bright red sports car

That is a cleaver tact, buy your SO some vehicle she really, really likes, and then say, “my turn for a new one.”

Actually my SO was so happy of the romantic act she coukdnt wait to blurt out buy yourself something.

i usually say retort...i will when its time...

im actually getting a kick out of my owned since new 126k mile corvette that i use all year round and slap snow tires on come next month..

my corvettes mint...and it makes me laugh as i see both men and women ask what do i do when it snows...

people are so brainwashed that awd is necessary to live...just as they are that you must have three rows of seats...lol

i tell them i slap snow tires in and get around just fine...the same 360 days a year i have for decades of driving...

the upcoming rear mid engine corvette with snow tires should be even more awesome in the snow..

rear mid engine sports cars are awesome fun in the snow..

You and Harlan Charles are winter driving Corvette buddies; here is 2014 Stingray that first Detroit winter when the C7 came out. Picture thanks to CorvetteBlogger.

Last year, to further street test the ZR1 and the Michelin Alpin PA4’s pure snow tire, the Corvette team drove them the entire winter in Detroit, while simultanteously Kai Spande and some of the BGA team drove them with those sare tires through the Kentucky winter.

Thank’s JB. I need to drive from Albuquerque to Louisville this coming January to spectate a professional level pool tournament. I want to take my 140k mile C5, but was thinking maybe I should be cautious and drive the wifie’s Jeep. Thanks to your example, I’ll take the Vette.

There is a C5 with documented 813,000 miles — still has its original motor.

My wife loves Corvettes, so as long as we adhere to her only rule, no more than one at a time (fine with me), she is as excited as I about the next one. She absolutely loves FVSs latest exterior render.

My SO support will come down to one thing, really: price.

If it's within about 10K of what I paid for my C7, she'll probably tell me I'm nuts but sign on the dotted line. If it's over $100K, as some are certain of, there's nothing I could say that would convince her.

My wife can’t believe it’s been since October of last year since I had a sports car in the garage. Sold the R8 a little to early in Oct of last year, I won’t ever do that again. I am going crazy and on the weekends I go to dealers to test drive sports cars. My (SO) wife says if it makes me happy and won’t break the bank enjoy it.

I wanted to buy a sports car last month but I am waiting to make the 2020 ME my 60th car purchsed. I hate waiting and a year without me buying a car is a record. In 2015 I purchased 6 vehicles and one was my 2015 Z06, I only kept her for 87 days and I don’t do this for a living.

If my Wife was one to say NO. It would go down like this:

So you like my new company car. My SVP says It will allow me to make more sales calls to improve productivity.
So I won this at a raffle at the same time our bank account was hacked by the Russians, Go figure.
So my friend John doesn’t have room in his garage and he ask me to store it in our garage while he is traveling in Europe for 3 years.

As long as you have the right tires for winter and or snow you should be good to go. Of course the last time we got 27 inches all of us waited until the next day when to local government plowed the roads.

have fun and just check the extended weather report for your travel plans.

Patience is neither my virtue either. But good things come to good people who will have some patience in the calendar year 2019...

                              Very simple:

                              1) if you're single stay single
                              2) if you're married and she objects, divorce her, she obviously doesn't care about your happiness
                              3) if you can't divorce her, well, you can always "call the guy"..... not that I'm advocating violence lol
