    Maybe I should post that “ME’s are MIA” more often, because just after that today we got one picture of two them in their often high altitude home of the Holiday Inn in Frisco, CO. Elevation there is 9,100’. However unlike when we saw them there earlier this summer, now they are testing a combo of high altitude with low temp — as typical morning lows are below freezing to start this month, with the end the month averaging at 22 degrees F there.

    You asked for more mid engine testing pictures, and GM is not supplying any, so,, here are some of our midengined cars

    Why ME’s Periodically Go MIA

    We have seen pretty much the same pattern the last few months, that right after we see pictures and/or videos of ME’s in the wild, on a track, etc., but then after a major sighting, we get periods of nothing for what seems to be forever.

    The latest example of this pattern, is that after roughly a week of intense mid engine activity as a result of GM taking four ME’s to the ‘Ring, not one C8 sighting in the last three weeks.

    Again, we have seen this testing/quietude/testing/quietude pattern for the ME over the past many months. Why so?

    Perhaps...

    What would the purpose and procedures of a testing program you would devise developing a product you were creating, let alone something as incredibly complex as a car?

    Test to determine strengths/weaknesses.

    Repair/improve product or its components to remove found weakness(es).

    Re-test with specific procedures to evaluate how successfully your repair/improvement was.

    So hypothetically at the ‘Ring where GM tested four ME IVERS, what did they learn?

    1) Need for a $5 heat shield around the alternator;
    2) Front shocks need more compression damping;
    3) Change angle of ‘X’ mounting bracket by two degrees;
    3) Change recommended cold start, track tire pressure, e.g., decrease to 28 PSI;
    4) Heads up display needs to be “more readable” when facing the sun.
    5) Many more items.

    Again, all hypothetical, but then what does GM do, and why do we often then have the IVERS be missing in action for a few weeks after we see intense activity? Because of the obvious, that GM has been the last few weeks repairing or improving that which they found there which did not meet their performance or other standards.

    And thus, might we again soon see more ME’s testing? We sure as hell hope so, for the last three weeks have seemed like a year long.

    Starved for new sitings/info, we need to see more ME’s testing now!
